Haley Schoenegge Garners Fifth Liberty League Track Performer of the Week

Junior won her fourth career national title and second straight in the Mile

Troy, NY - The Liberty League announced its weekly award winners for the week ending March 15 as Vassar College Women's Track and Field junior Haley Schoenegge was tabbed the league's Track Performer of the Week for the fifth time this season.

Schoenegge defended her indoor Mile national title at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships on Saturday with a new career-best time of 4:42.69, which marks her fourth career national championship. Schoenegge led the race from wire-to-wire and threw down a blazing 33.46 last 200 meters to pull away from the pack and record the fourth-fastest time in Division III history.

Schoenegge closed her day with a 16th place finish to score Second Team All-American honors after crossing the finish line with a time of 9:53.08 in the 3000 meters. Following the two events on Saturday,  Schoenegge is now a nine-time USTFCCCA Track and Field All-American and has earned 11 career All-American citations.

Earlier this season, Schoenegge raced to a new Division III all-time record time of 2:50.14 in the 1,000 meters at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University on Friday. Schoenegge finished eighth overall in an elite field of Division I, II and III competition with a career-best, school record and Division III all-time record mark, outpacing her best time set last weekend by over nine seconds. Her record time took down the previous record time of 2:51.13 of Isabel Wyatt of St. Olaf set in 2024.

Vassar will begin the outdoor season on Saturday at the J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic at Wesleyan.
