Baseball Kicks Off 2026 Campaign Against Plattsburgh

Brewers will square off with the Cardinals in a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Bard

Poughkeepsie, NY - The Vassar College Baseball team begins its 2026 campaign under second year Head Coach Tad Skelley on Sunday afternoon as the Brewers will take on Plattsburgh in a doubleheader on the campus of Bard College beginning at 11:00 a.m.

  • Vassar finished with a 14-19 overall record a season ago, including a 5-9 mark against Liberty League rivals.

Pitchers
  • Junior Will Darrell is back as the leader in innings pitched with 39.1 and he finished with a team-high in strikeouts with 48.
  • Junior Grant Maryott returns after a sophomore campaign that finished with a 4.50 earned run average and held teams to a .191 batting average over 38 innings.
  • Sophomore Zach Berner tossed 33 innings last season where he pitched to an 4.91 ERA while senior Cade Terada-Herzer returns as a key cog in the bullpen after posting a 3.86 ERA over 28 innings last season.
  • Junior Sage Roy-Burman also returns following 26.1 innings pitched along with senior Danny Wellner coming back for his final campaign after tossing 18.2 innings.
  • Junior Patrick Mill, sophomore Miller Young and sophomore Kyle Donlon all return after throwing innings out of the pen last season.
  • Senior Addison Lee will return to the rotation after missing last season due to injury.
  • First years Jack Sadowski, Matt Calamari, Eric Wallick, John Bajaj and Noah Sternberg will all look to factor in early on the mound.
Infield Outfield
  • Senior Jensen Bergman enters his season campaign following a season where he led the team in average (.363), hits (41), runs (30) and stolen bases (10). He also finished second in runs batted in with 21, third in doubles (6) and tied for the team lead in triples (3) and homers (2) and earned an All-Liberty League Third Team selection.
  • Young returns after hitting .294 over 16 games in the outfield while Sobo, Biskupiak, Wallick and Roy-Burman all will look to supply production to the outfield group.
Head Coach
  • Skelley returns for his second season at the helm of the Brewers after posting 15 wins a season ago.

The Schedule
  • Following the season opening doubleheader against Plattsburgh on Sunday, Vassar is scheduled to take on Hartford on Wednesday, March 4.
  • The Brewers then head to the RussMatt Invitational in Florida and will take on St. Joseph's (Maine), Albertus Magnus, Penn State Abington, Wheaton (MA), Lesley, Oneonta, Macalester and Salem State from March 8-17.
  • VC will return home to start conference play on March 20 with the home opener against RPI before completing the three-game series in Troy on March 21.
  • The Brewers host Old Westbury for a midweek matchup on March 25 before taking on Union in a three-game conference set on March 27-28.
  • Vassar plays host to Mount Saint Vincent on April 1 and then clashes with Bard on April 3 and 4 in a Liberty League series.
  • VC welcomes NYU to Poughkeepsie on April 8 before heading to St. Lawrence for a three-game set on April 10 and 11.
  • Vassar follows that with a midweek matchup with Saint Joseph (CT) on April 15 and then closes conference play with a series with Skidmore on April 17 and 18.
  • The Brewers will head to Trinity (CT) for a midweek night game on April 22 before hosting Mount Saint Mary for Senior Day on April 24 and then closes the home schedule with a doubleheader against Wesleyan on April 26.
  • The regular season concludes with a road trip to NYU on April 29 followed by the Crossover Divisional Series beginning on Friday, May 1.
  • The four-team double elimination part of the Liberty League Championship will run from May 7-9 at the highest seed.
