Brewers Travel To Hartford To Open 2026 Campaign

Vassar posted six wins in 2025

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Men's Lacrosse team will open its seventh season under Head Coach John McCreery Saturday afternoon when it makes the trip out I-84 to take on the University of Hartford. Face-off with the Hawks is set for 12:00 p.m. with Live Stats and Video available for those unable to attend.
 
Quick Hitters
  • Vassar posted a 6-9 overall record a season ago, including a 12-11 overtime win over Hartford to open the season.
  • The Brewers also closed the season with a one-goal victory, claiming an 11-10 road win at Clarkson.
  • The 2026 schedule features three league opponents currently ranked in both the USILA and Inside Lacrosse top-25 polls.
  • Vassar returns six of its top eight points producers from the 2025 season.
  • The Brewers welcome back a trio of face-off specialists from last season.

Attack
  • Junior Gavin Arcuri (Westhampton, NY) headlines the returning for the Brewers after leading the team with 15 assists and 38 points in 2025. Arcuri added 23 goals, 36 groundballs and five caused turnovers to round out a strong all-around season.
  • Senior Baker Morton (West Hartford, VT) registered 13 goals as a junior in 2025 in 15 games played to go along with 10 groundballs.
  • Sophomore Drew Mazzocco (Leesburg, VA) finished his rookie season third on the team in points after totaling 13 goals and 13 assists.
  • Sophomore Tate Tinker (Lexington, KY) found the back of the net seven times as a rookie, including three with the player-advantage.
  • TJ Carl (Rochester, NY), Liam Gaugler (Cold Spring, NY) and Liam McGuire (Rochester, NY) ill all look to support the scoring attack in 2026.
  • Newcomers to the front line for the Brewers include Travis Heller (Lafayette, NJ) and Ian Coulter (Gibsonia, PA).
 
Midfield
 
Long Stick Midfield
  • Sophomore Kai Cohagan (Austin, TX) appeared in 11 games as a rookie and classmate Lou Chicatelli (Niskayuna, NY) saw time in six contests as a First Year.
  • Henry Shell (Colts Neck, NJ) returns for Vassar after missing the 2025 campaign due to injury.
  • Newcomers Tim Morin (Stow, MA) and Atticus Krauss (Somerset, MA) add depth to the unit for the 2026 season.
 
Defense
  • Hayden Sofield (Long Beach, NY) is the top returner for Vassar in caused turnovers after forcing 12 miscues a season ago. Sofield added 23 groundballs and a face-off win as a sophomore.
  • Senior Dan Bader (Forestdale, MA) was limited to only two games in 2025 due to injury, but started 15 games in 2024 and registered 11 caused turnovers and 32 groundballs.
  • Ari Krane (Atherton, CA) is back after appearing in 12 games and making eight starts in 2025.
  • Also returning on the backline for the Brewers are Aiden Santoro (Water Mill, NY) who appeared in 12 games last season, Will Martins (Pittsford, NY), Noah Harcek (Niles, MI) and Sawyer Tarr (Savannah, GA).
  • Caleb Clamser (Hopewell Junction, NY), Jack Schoenherr (Ridgefield, CT), Kyriakos Ciccone (Southborough, MA) and Trevor Serve (Rochester, NY) will help anchor the Vassar defense in their rookie seasons.
 
Face-Off
  • Vassar returns three face-off specialists from a season ago who will be tasked with replacing 111 wins and a team-high 54 groundballs from Holden Anderson.
  • Sophomore Landon Silverstein (Deer Park, NY) went 33-for-73 at the 'x' as a rookie and collected 17 groundballs.
  • Senior Eli Sherman (San Francisco, CA) won 18 face-offs last season and won 145 as a sophomore in 2024, posting a 52.5-percent win rate while adding 73 groundballs.
  • Sophomore Cade Chezum (Canton, NY) went 4-for-7 in draws as a rookie and secured three groundballs.
  • First Year Danny Holt (Rochester, MI) joins the group in 2026.
 
Goalie
  • Four goalies will look to replace 192 saves and a .547 save percentage from Drew Quinn who graduated fifth all-time at Vassar in saves and ninth in save percentage.
  • Andrew Timson (Babylon, NY) saw time in two games last season and registered a win and five saves.
  • Cam Reisz (Indianapolis, IN) returns for his third season as a Brewer in 2026.
  • Newcomers Jess Geoghagan (Mercer Island, WA) and Matteo Conway (Westlake Village, CA) will vie for time between the pipes in 2026.
 
Head Coach
  • John McCreery begins his seventh season on the sidelines at Vassar Saturday afternoon.
  • McCreery has guided the Brewers to 33 victories, including nine in 2024.
 
The Schedule
  • After traveling to Hartford, Vassar opens the home schedule against Oneonta on February 28.
  • Vassar will also play non-conference home games against Clark (3/7), New Paltz (3/18) and Springfield (4/15).
  • Non-conference road games include trips to Wesleyan (3/4), Williams (3/10) and a contest with Western Connecticut in Orlando, FL on March 14.
  • A challenging Liberty League schedule opens with a trip to RIT with other road conference games at RPI (4/1), Union (4/11) and St. Lawrence (4/25).
  • Conference rivals Clarkson (3/28), Skidmore (4/4) and Ithaca (4/18) will all pay visits to Poughkeepsie in 2026.
  • The Liberty League Championship opens on April 28 and continues with the semifinals on May 1 and the Championship Final on May 3.
