POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Vassar College Director of Sports Medicine
Emma Meore has announced the hiring of
Laura McKinley as the new Assistant Athletic Trainer. McKinley joins the Brewers following her time as an Athletic Training Intern at the University of New Haven.
"I am thrilled to welcome Laura to the Vassar College Sports Medicine team! We are looking forward to continual growth, collaboration and elevation of the care we provide with a full staff," said Meore.
During her time with the Chargers, McKinley assisted with injury evaluations, daily treatments and rehabilitation of student-athletes across multiple sports. She also was responsible for designing and progressing evidence-based rehab programs that emphasized functional strength, neuromuscular control and return-to-play criteria.
"I'm incredibly excited to be joining Vassar College and becoming part of such a great athletic training staff. I look forward to working with the student-athletes and contributing to their health, well-being, and success both on and off the field", said McKinley.
Prior to her stint at New Haven, McKinley spent time as an athletic training intern at Albertus Magnus in the fall of 2025 where she helped provide acute injury care during all practices and competitions. She also assisted with special tests, evaluations and clinical decision-making for all student-athletes.
McKinley also worked as an athletic training intern at Sacred Heart during the spring of 2025 where she assisted with post-operative and non-operative rehab programs. McKinley also collaborated with certified athletic trainers, physicians and strength coaches to implement integrated care plans.
She also spent time as an intern at Darien High School where she assisted with emergency action plans, sideline coverage during practices and competitions and daily treatment programs including therapeutic exercises, stretching programs and modality applications.
McKinley graduated from Sacred Heart University in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and went on to earn her Masters in Athletic Training from Sacred Heart in 2026. McKinley has certifications in CPR/AED and Mental Health First Aid and also is Hawkgrips IASTM Level I certified.
