Vassar Earns First Ever Top-50 NACDA Learfield Directors' Cup Finish

The Brewers place 46th overall out of total of over 430 Division III schools following a historic season for Vassar Athletics

Cleveland, Ohio - The Vassar College Department of Athletics and Physical Education scored its first ever top-50 finish in the LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings as the Brewers finished 46th nationally out of a total of over 430 Division III colleges and universities during the 2024-25 season.

With approximately 430 Division III colleges and universities, the LEARFIELD Directors' Cup is awarded annually to the nation's best overall collegiate athletics program. Each institution is awarded points in a predetermined number of sports for men and women.

The Division III program began in 1995-96 by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA TODAY, and it has since grown into a highly recognized mark of distinction among collegiate institutions.

Accumulating 385 total points over a historic 2024-25 season, the Brewers recorded their best ever finish in 46th overall and tallied 154 points during the fall and finished the year ranked third in the Liberty League, just behind RPI and Ithaca.

Men's soccer finished the 2024 season with a 13-4-3 overall record to earn its third conference title and first since 2016. Vassar advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in program history following a 3-0 First Round victory over #12 Rowan.

Women's cross country secured back-to-back conference titles for the first time in program history and earned a 20th place finish at the NCAA Division III Championships, which marked the program's highest finish at the national championships, and sophomore Haley Schoenegge was the National Runner-Up for the Brewers.

Women's soccer put together a historic campaign with the Brewers making their second ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament with an at-large bid and secured its first ever NCAA Tournament victory with a 1-0 triumph over St. Mary's-Maryland.

Schoenegge earned her first career NCAA Indoor Track and Field National title in the Mile for women's indoor track and field followed by the sophomore defending her 1500 meters outdoor national championship at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in May.

Women's basketball took down top-seeded Ithaca in the Liberty League Championship final to tally back-to-back championships and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season.

Men's volleyball earned yet another bid to the NCAA Championship as the Brewers clashed with 2025 National Semifinalist and 2024 National Champion Cal Lutheran.

Women's tennis ended Skidmore's 13-year conference title run with their first Liberty League crown since 2010 and picked up a NCAA Tournament victory over Hunter for the program's first NCAA victory since 2012.
