Emma Meore Honored as the NATA-ICSM Above and Beyond Athletic Trainer Award Recipient

Dallas, TX - Vassar College Associate Head Athletic Trainer Emma Meore was honored by the National Athletic Trainers Association – Intercollegiate Sport Medicine Council (NATA-ICSM) on Tuesday as Meore was tabbed the NATA-ICSM Above and Beyond Athletic Trainer award recipient. Meore will be recognized at the NATA Clinical Symposium in Philadelphia, PA on June 30. 

Each year, the Intercollegiate Council for Sports Medicine recognizes one athletic trainer or one instance of care in the collegiate setting for exceptional performance in athletic training or non-athletic training activities occurring in the past year. The awards that are selected each year are: Head Athletic Trainer of the Year (NCAA Division I), Head Athletic Trainer of the Year (NCAA Division II), Head Athletic Trainer of the Year (NCAA Division III), Head Athletic Trainer of the Year (NAIA), Head Athletic Trainer of the Year (Two Year Institution), Head Athletic Trainer of the Year (Club/Intramural/Recreational Sports), Staff Athletic Trainer of the Year, the Above and Beyond Award and the Doug Boersma New Horizon Award.

The Above and Beyond Award recognizes one athletic trainer or one instance of care in the collegiate setting for exceptional performance in athletic training or non-athletic training activities occurring in the past year. Past recipients have administered life-saving measures, developed major programs or initiatives at their institution or led service projects that have had a lasting impact on the community.

Meore (MSAT, LAT, ATC, CSCS) is the athletic trainer sport assignment for women's soccer, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field along with women's lacrosse at Vassar and is in her second year as the Associate Head Athletic Trainer with the Brewers.

Meore came to Poughkeepsie following her time as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at John Jay-CR, where she assisted over 24 sports programs and provided strength and conditioning services to student athletes.
 
Before her time at John Jay Cross River, Meore spent a year at the United States Military Academy at West Point where she was an Assistant Athletic Trainer for to the women's volleyball and softball teams during the 2021-22 season. Meore also assisted with the men's gymnastics and football squads in the spring of 2021.
 
Meore spent time at the University of Buffalo in 2020 with the track and field team and the 2019 season at UB with the football team. She also has clinical exposure at UBMD Orthopaedics and Nichols School in Buffalo, NY.
 
Meore graduated from the University of Buffalo with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in May 2020 before going on to earn her Master of Science in Athletic Training in May 2021.
 
She is a BOC certified athletic trainer and a member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association. She currently holds certifications in Sound Assisted Soft-Tissue Mobilization, CPR/AED, First Aid and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
