Brewers Host Hartford, Travel To Oneonta To Begin 2025

Season opener set for 4:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Men's Lacrosse team will open the 2025 campaign with a home game against Hartford Wednesday afternoon at Weinberg Turf Field before traveling to Oneonta on Saturday complete the first week of the season. Live Stats and Video will be available for both contests for those unable to attend.
 
At A Glance
  • Vassar finished the 2024 season with a 9-6 overall record and a 2-5 mark against Liberty League rivals.
  • Last season marked the most wins a season since the Brewers won 11 times in 2017.
  • The Brewers graduated their top two point producers from last season's squad in Troy Santise, the program's all-time assist leader, and Ian Zumpano.
  • On the defensive end, the Brewers are tasked with replacing Second Team All-Conference selection Solomon Hess, who led the team with 40 caused turnovers in 2024.
  • Vassar also needs to fill the void left by Jack Palmer who totaled 34 groundballs and eight caused turnovers in 2024.
  • Vassar returns four players who totaled at least 20 points in 2024, led by sophomore Gavin Arcuri (Westhampton, NY) who totaled 31 points as a rookie.
 
Attack
  • The attack is highlighted by Arcuri, who is the Brewers' top returning point producer. Arcuri produced 19 goals and 12 assists while adding 18 groundballs.
  • TJ Carl (Rochester, NY) finished the 2024 season with 25 goals and a trio of helpers.
  • Junior Baker Morton (West Hartford, VT) returns in 2025 after posting 20 points on the strength of 12 goals and eight assists.
  • Nate Kratovil (Stevenson, MD), Declan McGrath (Watertown, CT) and Jack Rufa (New Milford, CT) look for an increased role on attack in 2025.
  • Newcomers to the attack in 2025 include Liam Gaugler (Cold Spring, NY), Gunnar Olsen (Lake Oswego, OR), Drew Mazzocco (Leesburg, VA), Jackson Falcone (North Falmouth, MA) and Tate Tinker (Lexington, KY).

Face-Off
  • The Brewers will carry four face-off specialists on the 2025 roster, led by returners Eli Sherman (San Francisco, CA) and Holden Anderson (Windham, ME).
  • Sherman won 145 draws for the Brewers in 2024 and secured a team-high 73 groundballs.
  • Anderson won 31 face-offs in 2024 and collected 19 groundballs.
  • Joining the face-off group in 2025 are First Years Landon Silverstein (Deer Park, NY) and Cade Chezum (Canton, NY).
 
Goalie
  • Drew Quinn (Garden City, NY) started all 15 games a season ago between the pipes.
  • Quinn made 168 saves in 2024 and worked to a 12.60 goals against average and a .500 save percentage.
  • Andrew Timson (Babylon, NY) appeared in to games as a First Year.
  • Cam Reisz (Indianapolis, IN) made one appearance for the Brewers in 2024.
 
Head Coach:
  • John McCreery is back for a seventh season on the sidelines in 2025. McCreery has led Vassar to 23 victories over the past three seasons.
 
The Schedule
  • Vassar is set to play 15 regular season games in 2025 with seven played at home.
  • In addition to Wednesday's opener, the Brewers will host Maritime and Trinity (CT) in non-conference play.
  • Non-Conference road games include trips to Oneonta, Keene State, Southern Virginia, St. Mary's-Maryland and Stockton.
  • Liberty League play begins with a trip to Ithaca with other league road games scheduled for Skidmore and Clarkson.
  • Nationally ranked RIT, RPI and St. Lawence will all visit Poughkeepsie in a row with Union making the trip to Poughkeepsie on April 19.
  • The Liberty League Championship gets underway with the First Round on April 29 and continues with the Semifinal Round on May 2 and the Final on May 4.
