POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Vassar College Department of Athletics and Physical Education, in conjunction with the Office of Advancement, held its seventh crowd-funding challenge, #Give2Brew, on October 14-15. This year's challenge was 29 hours, running from 8 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14 until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15 where #Give2Brew raised an astounding over $750,000, a record-setting mark for the Day of Giving.
The initial goal of 2,300 donors was reached at 6:32 p.m. on Tuesday evening, triggering a $10,000 donation to the Brewers Fund courtesy of President Bradley and her husband John. The support continued to pour in from there, finishing with an incredible 3,500+ gifts from 48 states and 15 countries.
The Vassar Board of Trustees generously made a gift of $34,000 to support Athletics and the Brewers Fund. Each team received a $1,000 bonus when they achieved their donor goal.
Vassar Director of Athletics and Physical Education
Michelle Walsh upon completion of the #Give2Brew campaign said, "What an amazing day of support for Vassar student-athletes! Donor generosity plays an integral role in student-athletes striving for and achieving excellence in competition, in the classroom and in their campus and local communities."
Each program sets both donor and dollar goals for the challenge. Student-athletes participated by creating personalized videos, highlighting how funds raised would benefit their program while also showcasing their individual creativity. These videos were posted to their team-specific social media accounts throughout the challenge.
The success of the challenge would not have been possible without the generous support of Vassar parents, alums and friends over the past 29 hours. In the coming days, the Vassar athletic department will continue to thank its donors through personal phone calls and hand-written letters.
