POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - Vassar College Director of Athletics and Physical Education, Michelle Walsh, has announced the addition of an Athletics Hall of Fame, an initiative to honor the outstanding achievements of former student-athletes, coaches, administrators and contributors to the College's athletics program.
"Vassar has an incredibly rich athletic history, dating back to the founding of the college and reflected in Matthew Vassar's commitment to offering women access to 'the most perfect education of body, mind, and spirit'", said Walsh. "I am thrilled to offer a formal opportunity to recognize the many outstanding achievements of our Vassar student-athletes, teams, and other individuals who have been a part of the Brewers family."
The Vassar College Department of Athletics and Physical Education is now accepting nominations for the first-ever Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Class, which will be enshrined during Reunion 2025. Nominations are now being accepted and will be open through Monday, September 16th, 2024.
Once the nomination period has concluded, a selection committee will deliberate to identify the first-ever class of Hall of Famers, who will be announced in the spring of 2025.
Nominees are being accepted in the following three categories:
- Alums who have participated on an athletic team while pursuing a Vassar College degree and who have completed their college athletic career at least ten (10) years prior to the year of election.
- College employees and/or other individuals who have made a significant contribution to Vassar athletics. College employees shall be eligible five (5) years after the date of their employment by the College has ended.
- Teams who have brought recognition and honor to the College by their significant achievement shall be eligible ten (10) years after the date of their achievement.
