Schoenegge Sets Two Meet Records; Dennis Wins Second Straight Triple Jump Championship to Lead Vassar to Liberty League Championship Fourth Place Finish

Schoenegge wins the 1500 meters and 5000 meters, Dennis wins fourth total triple jump championship

TROY, NY - First year Haley Schoenegge earned Liberty League champion status in both the 1500 meters and the 5000 meters while also posting two meet records along with sophomore Jahmilia Dennis winning her second straight Liberty League Outdoor Track and Field triple jump championship to lead the Vassar College Women's Track and Field team to a fourth place team finish on Saturday.

The team's fourth place finish is the highest finish for the Brewers since the Outdoor Track and Field league expanded to eight teams in 2018.

Pentathlon
  • Junior Faye Stevens earned a second place finish for the Brewers with 3590 points after winning the long jump with a leap of 5.02 meters and scoring a second place finish in the javelin throw at 25.10 meters. Stevens closed the event with a fourth place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:41.99.
  • First year Abigail Sasson finished fifth overall with 3046 points as she finished fourth in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 4.77 meters. Sasson added a sixth place finish in the javelin with a personal-best toss of 18.44 meters followed by an eighth place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:59.85.
4x100 Relay 1500 Meters
  • Schoenegge, who was named the Championship's Most Outstanding Track Performer, became the Liberty League Outdoor champion in the 1500 meters as she crossed the finish line with the meet record time of 4:28.96 and defeated the next finisher by over three seconds.
  • First year Addie Nyhan was 15th with a personal-best time of 4:56.83 followed by senior Jordan Norman posting a time of 5:00.96 for a 16th place finish.
100 Meter Hurdles
  • Dennis collected a third place overall finish in the finals as the sophomore crossed the finish line in 14.75.
100 Meters
  • Novak scored a second place finish in the finals as the senior recorded a personal-best and AARTFC time of 12.25.
  • Francis finished sixth overall with a time of 12.85 followed by Eu in seventh in 12.94.
800 Meters
  • First year Ava Whitney earned a second place finish with a personal-best and AARTFC qualifying time of 2:17.97 followed by junior Sophia Henderson scoring a fourth place finish in an AARTFC mark of 2:19.72.
  • First year Norah Reade crossed the finish line in sixth place with a time of 2:21.42.
200 Meters
  • Novak scored a third place finish in the finals in the 200 meters as the senior posted a personal-best and AARTFC time of 25.01.
5000 Meters
  • Schoenegge posted another meet record in the 5000-meters as the first year posted a time of 17:02.02 and beat the next finisher by over 11 seconds to earn her second victory of the day.
  • Sophomore Anika Mueller-Hickler scored a seventh place finish with a personal-best and AARTFC time of 18:20.86.
  • First year Acadia Helfand crossed the finish line in 19:32.35 followed by sophomore Nora Goldberg-Courtney scoring a time of 20:23.53.
4x400 Relay
  • The quartet of Novak, Whitney, Reade and Henderson earned a sixth place finish with an AARTFC mark of 4:06.99.
Triple Jump
  • Dennis collected her second straight Outdoor Track and Field and fourth overall triple jump league championship title as she posted a leap of 11.65 meters to defeat the next finisher by .10 meters.
  • Senior Heather Kwafo tallied an eighth place finish with a jump of 10.30 meters.
Shot Put
  • Sophomore Kolby Davis recorded a toss of 8.82 meters for the Brewers.
High Jump Discus Throw
  • Sophomore Sydney Petrie finished 10th overall with a throw of 35.09 meters while junior Soleil Yuong was in the top-20 at 29.49 meters and sophomore Abbe Colgan recorded a toss of 28.31 meters.
