Haley Schoenegge Closes Another Historic Season With Liberty League Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year

Schoenegge finished the 2026 season with her third 1500 Meters National Title

Troy, NY- The Liberty League announced its major award winners in women's outdoor track and field on Tuesday morning as junior Haley Schoenegge closed yet another historic season with the conference's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year honor. This award comes following Schoenegge's third straight USTFCCCA Outdoor Regional Track Athlete of the Year selection.

Schoenegge put together another record-breaking day at the NCAA Outdoor Championships as she earned her third consecutive national crown in the 1500 meters as she pulled away in the final lap, throwing down a blazing 1:05.16 final 400 meters, to finish with a time of 4:16.73. The sophomore continued her illustrious career with First Team All-American honors in the 5000 meters with an eighth place finish to score her second First Team All-American honor of the day with a time of 16:42.43. Schoenegge now holds five total national championships after securing her second straight Mile national crown at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Schoenegge has also earned five total Regional Track Athlete of the Year honorees for Schoenegge as she has earned two consecutive Mideast Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year honors along with three straight outdoor awards. The junior now holds 11 total All-American selections with nine of them coming in track and two coming in cross country

At the Liberty League Outdoor Championships, Schoenegge earned her third straight conference titles in the 1500 meters and the 5000 meters along with earning the 800 meters crown to earn yet another Liberty League Most Outstanding Track Performer of the Meet honor.

Schoenegge helped lead Vassar to its best program finish at the Liberty League Championships as she began her career day with a title in the 1500 meters behind a time of 4:36.83, outpacing the next finisher by almost seven seconds followed by a meet record time of 2:10.93, which ranked 19th overall in Division III this season in the 800 meters and a first place finish in the 5000 meters with a time of 16:50.63, outpacing the closest finisher by over 18 seconds.

Earlier in the season, Schoenegge set career bests in both the 1500 meters and the 5000 meters with times of 4:16.13 and 16:15.60, respectively.
