Schoenegge Wins 1500 Meters Title at AARTFC Outdoor Championships

Dennis finishes runner-up in the triple jump

CORTLAND, NY - First year Haley Schoenegge earned the 1500 meters title and broke the meet record along with sophomore Jahmilia Dennis taking a runner-up finish in the triple jump to lead the Vassar College Women's Track and Field team to a tied for 16th place finish out of 43 teams at the AARTFC Outdoor Championships at SUNY Cortland on Thursday.

Triple Jump
  • Dennis earned a runner-up finish as the sophomore recorded a top leap of 11.75 meters.
1500 Meters
  • Schoenegge took home the regional title as she crossed the finish line in 4:25.70 for a first place finish, defeating the next closest finisher by six seconds. Schoenegge currently ranks in the top five in the country in the 5000 meters and is the top runner in the Mideast Region.
800 Meters
  • Junior Sophia Henderson scored a 15th place finish and was fifth in heat three with a time of 2:20.72.
200 Meters
  • Senior Ava Novak earned a ninth place overall finish and finished third in heat three with a time of 25.60.
UP NEXT
  • Vassar will head to the NCAA Outdoor Championships next week in Virginia Beach.
