Baseball Opens Season Against NYU, Purchase

Brewers set the school record for wins last season

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Vassar College Baseball team will open the 2024 campaign this weekend as the Brewers will take on NYU on Friday afternoon before taking on SUNY Purchase in two home games that will be played at Purchase. Live Stats and Video will be available for both contests for those unable to attend.

AT A GLANCE
  • Vassar is coming off the highest win total in school history as the Brewers finished 20-18 last season and reached the Crossover Divisional Series against RIT. 
  • The Brewers will return Second Team All-Region III D3Baseball.com and ABCA Third Team All-Region senior Reid Lapekas along with All-Liberty League Honorable Mention senior Michael Came.
  • Lapekas finished last season hitting .432 in 37 games of action and led the team in HBP's with 18 on the season.
  • Came put together a strong season on the mound as he finished with a team-best 3.44 ERA while posting a 4-0 record in nine appearances (seven starts)

HEAD COACH
  • Long time assistant coach Blayne Fuke enters his first season as the Interim Head Coach after serving as the Associate Head Coach on last year's team that scored 20 victories for the first time in program history.
THE SCHEDULE
  • Following the opening weekend with NYU and Purchase, the Brewers fly west to square off with George Fox, Whitman, Puget Sound and Lewis and Clark from March 8-16.
  • Vassar will return to take on RPI in the first weekend of Liberty League action on March 22-23 followed by a midweek clash with Old Westbury on March 27.
  • A three-game set with Union follows from March 29-30 followed by a midweek matchup against CCNY on April 3.
  • The Brewers will square off with Skidmore in three-game series on April 5-6 before the Violets make the return trip on April 10th.
  • Vassar will then head north to play doubleheaders against Ithaca on April 13 and Hobart on April 14.
  • VC will play five straight home games from April 17-24 as they will take on Mount Saint Mary and Mount Saint Vincent in midweek action along with a Senior Day three-game series with Utica on April 20-21.
  • Vassar will close the regular season with conference foe Bard on April 27-28 before the Crossover Divisional Series begins on May 4.
  • The Liberty League Championship will run from May 9-11 at the highest seed.
