POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Vassar College Baseball team will open the 2024 campaign this weekend as the Brewers will take on NYU on Friday afternoon before taking on SUNY Purchase in two home games that will be played at Purchase. Live Stats and Video will be available for both contests for those unable to attend.

AT A GLANCE

• Vassar is coming off the highest win total in school history as the Brewers finished 20-18 last season and reached the Crossover Divisional Series against RIT. 
• The Brewers will return Second Team All-Region III D3Baseball.com and ABCA Third Team All-Region senior Reid Lapekas along with All-Liberty League Honorable Mention senior Michael Came.
• Lapekas finished last season hitting .432 in 37 games of action and led the team in HBP's with 18 on the season.
• Came put together a strong season on the mound as he finished with a team-best 3.44 ERA while posting a 4-0 record in nine appearances (seven starts)

A LOOK AT THE TEAM

• In the Field
  • Along with Lapekas, Vassar returns sophomore outfielder Jensen Bergman who recorded a .373 batting average and stole 11 bases in his first year campaign. 
  • Senior first baseman's Ty Murray and Nick Greenhawt also return as Murray finished with a .372 average while Greenhawt held an on-base percentage of .435.
  • Senior outfielder Jaden Millstein is also back after hitting .321 and stealing eight bases along with junior infielders Birch Herring-Jackson and Ricardo Reyna returning after both hitting above .300 last season.
  • Senior infielder Jack Silvera will add to that .300 batting average club as he recorded eight extra-base hits.
  • Juniors Michael Lee and Marc Milano along with sophomore Herbert Toler III will look to replace stalwarts Adam Talwalker and Christian Baaki behind the dish in 2024.
  • Juniors Daniel Laderman, Finn Kaplan-Moore and Bradley Markind and sophomore Taison Jemison will each look to add to Vassar's loaded lineup in 2024.
  • First years Nate Crater, Noah Stockman and Will Darrell will all look to contribute early for the Brewers.
• On the Mound
  • In addition to Came, 2023 innings leader sophomore Addison Lee returns after tossing 46.2 innings and striking out 48 while allowing a batting average against of .283.
  • Junior Pat Kerrigan comes back following a 2023 campagin that saw him throw 26.1 innings in relief and posted a ERA of 4.10.
  • Junior Luke Barrientos and sophomore Cade Tereda-Herzer look to build on last season after Barrientos started six games and Tereda-Herzer made 14 appearances in relief.
  • Senior Joe Sabo, junior Jack Blau, senior Kyle Flynn and junior Collin Donnelly all look to continue their contributions on the mound in 2024.
  • Junior Juan Mercado and sophomore Danny Wellner will look to add innings in relief for Vassar while the first year class of Rohan Mishra, Patrick Mill, Asher Millimet, Sage Roy-Burman, Grant Maryott and Darrell will look to make an immediate impact on the bump in their first year in Poughkeepsie.

HEAD COACH

• Long time assistant coach Blayne Fuke enters his first season as the Interim Head Coach after serving as the Associate Head Coach on last year's team that scored 20 victories for the first time in program history.

THE SCHEDULE

• Following the opening weekend with NYU and Purchase, the Brewers fly west to square off with George Fox, Whitman, Puget Sound and Lewis and Clark from March 8-16.
• Vassar will return to take on RPI in the first weekend of Liberty League action on March 22-23 followed by a midweek clash with Old Westbury on March 27.
• A three-game set with Union follows from March 29-30 followed by a midweek matchup against CCNY on April 3.
• The Brewers will square off with Skidmore in three-game series on April 5-6 before the Violets make the return trip on April 10th.
• Vassar will then head north to play doubleheaders against Ithaca on April 13 and Hobart on April 14.
• VC will play five straight home games from April 17-24 as they will take on Mount Saint Mary and Mount Saint Vincent in midweek action along with a Senior Day three-game series with Utica on April 20-21.
• Vassar will close the regular season with conference foe Bard on April 27-28 before the Crossover Divisional Series begins on May 4.
• The Liberty League Championship will run from May 9-11 at the highest seed.
