Women's Track and Field Competes at the Big Apple Invitational

Brewers score multiple top-five finishers

STATEN ISLAND, NY - The Vassar College Women's Track and Field headed to Staten Island on Saturday afternoon to compete in the Big Apple Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

60 Meter Hurdles

Senior Nora Jensen posted a strong third place finish in 9.46 while sophomore Freja Niklasson was ninth in 10.02 and junior Faye Stevens finished 11th with a time of 10.07.
First year Abigail Sasson crossed the finish line in 10.94 followed by senior Laura Wong in 11.31.

60 Meters

Sophomore Sydney Passley-Harris turned in a time of 8.84 for a 41st place finish while junior Lily Falkowski posted a time of 8.94.

Mile

First year Norah Reade scored a sixth place finish with a time of 5.16.55 to lead Vassar in the 1 mile run.
Sophomore Isabelle Borgstedt posted a time of 5:54.56 for a top-50 finish.

400 Meters

First year Maya Carey tallied a top-50 finish with a time of 1:05.12 while sophomore Maddie Busam and Margaret McLaughlin finished back-to-back with Busam crossing the finish line in 1:05.76 and McLaughlin finishing in 1:07.17.
Wong crossed the finish line with a time of 1.07.83.

500 Meters

Stevens earned an eighth place finish with a time of 1:25.82 for Vassar.

800 Meters

Reade was the top finisher in the 800 meters with a 12th place finish in a time of 2:23.01 while senior Jordan Norman was 21st in 2:26.05.
Junior Sophia Henderson scored a top-35 finish with a time of 2:30.26 followed by Borgstedt in 2:38.67.

200 Meters

Senior Ava Novak tallied a 19th place finish in 26.22 along with Stevens posting a time of 27.77.
Sophomore Jamie Eu crossed the finish line in 28.23 followed by Jensen in 28.39 and Busam in 28.95.

3000 Meters

First year Haley Schoenegge continued her strong start to the track and field season as she finished third overall and the top DIII finisher with a time of 10:09.19.
Sophomore Anika Mueller-Hickler was 18th in 10:38.06 while senior Amaavi Miriyagalla crossed the finish line in 34th in 10:54.81 and sophomore Nora Goldberg-Courtney was 41st with a time of 11:02.97.
First years Addie Nyhan and Acadia Helfand posted top-50 finishes as Nyhan posted a time of 11:08.26 and Helfand finished in 11:14.25.
Sophomore Lily Shimpach rounded out the Vassar finishers with a time fo 11:22.22.

High Jump

Sasson scored a mark of 1.45 meters in the high jump for the Brewers.

Long Jump

Novak posted a strong finish in 17th place with a distance of 5.17 meters while Stevens posted a mark of 4.92 meters.
Eu recorded a distance of 4.76 meters along with Niklasson at 4.58 meters and Passley-Harris at 4.57 meters.

Triple Jump

Sophomore Jahmilia Dennis earned a fifth place finish with a mark of 11.56 meters.

UP NEXT

Vassar will compete in the West Point Tune-Up on Saturday afternoon.
