NEW LONDON, CT - The Vassar College Men's and Women's Track and Field teams began the first day of the Silfen Invite at Connecticut College on Friday afternoon.
Two Brewers competed in the women's heptathlon as freshman
Lila Miller sits third overall after posting third place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles (17.45), shot put (9.81m) and the 200-meters (28.87). Sophomore
Soleil Yuong is sixth after posting sixth place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200-meters.
Sophomore
Max Bergman is second overall in the men's decathlon as he finished second in the long jump (6.43m) and the shot put (10.19m) and third overall in the high jump at 1.72 meters.
Freshman
Abbe Colgan and senior
Emily Tincher finished back-to-back in the women's discus as Colgan was 23rd with a mark of 28.47 meters while Tincher was 24th at 27.77 meters respectively.Â
In the men's 3000-meter steeplechase, sophomore
Levi Lilienthal was 10th in a time of 10:30.62 while sophomore
Anna Kaigle was eighth in the women's race in 12:33.13.
Sophomore
Jose Magana was 11th in the men's 800-meters with a time of 1:57.35 followed by sophomore
Nick Redstone finishing 16th in 1:58.63 and junior
Tim Jacques scoring a 17th place finish in 1:58.87. Sophomore
Sophia Henderson was eighth in the women's race with a time of 2:20.15.
In the men's 1500-meters, sophomore
Tim Buchan crossed the finish line in sixth place with a time of 4:01.83 while senior
Augusta Stockman took home the women's title as she crossed the finish line in 4:43.82.
Freshmen
Davis Anderson and
Kai Chang finished back-to-back in the men's 5000-meters as Anderson finished sixth in 15:03.30 and Chang was seventh in 15:15.78. In the women's race, sophomore
Noni Pattington was sixth overall in 18:18.69 and freshman
Anika Mueller-Hickler crossed the line in 14th place in 18:38.98.
Vassar returns to action for Day Two of the Silfen Invite tomorrow morning at Connecticut College.
