MEDFORD, MA – It was another close battle on Sunday as the Vassar College women's squash team squared-off against Mount Holyoke College in the Consolation Championship of the Epps Cup at the 2022 College Squash Association (CSA) Women's Team National Championships. The Lyons move to 6-8 win the victory, while the Brewers conclude their team season at 10-8 overall.
After facing off on February 19 with the Brewers posting a 5-4 win in South Hadley, the two teams met again Sunday.
From the top of the ladder, MHC's Mihiliya Kalahe Arachchige posted an 11-1, 11-1, 11-3 win against Vassar rookie
Emma Adams, but the Brewers got a point back at two as sophomore
Anna Lee bested Xaria Durocher 5-11, 11-4, 11-13, 11-2, 11-6. Senior
Nicole Pihlstrom posted an 11-7, 11-6, 11-5 victory over Giselle Cabrera at three, while from four, sophomore
Olivia Berkson battled past Melissa Marquez, 11-8, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6.
Five saw MHC's Kyla Core defeat VC senior
Darina Kulaha, 11-4, 11-3, 11-4, but at six, rookie
Sophia Choudhri was an 11-8, 11-9, 11-8 win against Elena Frogameni.
Seven was won by Paige Gershuny, who defeated senior
Heidi Zahnleuter, 11-0, 11-9, 11-3, while at eight, Dnyaneshwari Haware took down sophomore
Kelsey O'Connell, 11-1, 12-10, 11-1.
The Lyons won by default at nine for the additional point.
