MEDFORD, MA – Day two of action for Vassar women's squash was a victorious one as the Brewers posted a 6-2 win over Chatham University in the Consolation Semifinals of the Epps Cup at the 2022 CSA Women's Team National Championships.
The Epps Cup, being contested at Tufts University, saw the Brewers improve to 10-7 on the season and advance to tomorrow Consolation Final where they will face Mount Holyoke College for the second time in a week. The two teams will meet on Courts 1, 2, and 3 on Sunday at 9:30am.
Today's action against the Cougars saw senior
Nicole Pihlstrom record an 11-2, 11-1, 11-4 victory over Yukta Rana at three. From four, sophomore
Olivia Berkson was an 11-1, 11-1, 11-0 winner against Yushi Zhang, while five saw senior
Darina Kulaha notch an 11-3, 11-6, 11-3 win against Farzeen Shaikh.
At six, rookie
Sophia Choudhri was an 11-3, 11-3, 11-3 winner over Giavanna Gibson, while seven saw senior
Heidi Zahnleuter win 11-1, 11-6, 11-6 over Bandhana Phuyal. Eight was a default win for the Brewers.
Vassar shouldered tough losses at the top of the lineup as rookie
Emma Adams fell 11-2, 11-0, 11-4 at the top of the ladder, while sophomore
Anna Lee fell 11-5, 11-3, 11- to Valentina Della-Maddalena at two.
