POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 9, 2018) – The Vassar College baseball team will take its first trip to Williamstown, MA for the first time Wednesday, traveling north take take on New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) foe Williams College in non-conference action. Vassar is coming off a 3-1 weekend against Liberty League foe Skidmore College, earning the first three games of the series before falling 3-1 in the finale.

Last Time Out: The Brewers got strong pitching throughout the weekend in taking three of four games from Skidmore. Vassar is now 6-2 in the Liberty League, tied with both the University of Rochester and Union College atop the standings. Before the loss in the finale, the five-game win streak was the longest for Vassar since an eight-gamer last season.
 
A Look At The Brewers (8-6):

• The Brewers are currently 6-1 at home this season and 3-6 on the road.
• Vassar is led offensively by senior Bobby Kinne, who is 20-for-50 (.400) with team-high totals of 13 RBI, 20 hits, 4 homers and 10 runs scored.
• Junior Bryan Rubin is also hitting .342 on the season in 12 starts, scoring nine times while chalking up three doubles.
• Senior Matt Hernandez has been swinging a big stick this season, posting six doubles through 14 games. In his prior three seasons, Hernandez had just five extra-base hits total.
• Sophomore Evan Trausch has a current hit streak of 15 games dating back to last season, which is the longest in a season since Bobby Kinne posted a 21-game streak at the end of 2015 into 2016.
• Vassar comes into the week third in the conference in doubles with 33.
• Freshman Elliott Layne has walked or been hit in 13 of his plate appearances this season, getting on-base at a .486 clip.
• The Brewers are 7-1 this season when scoring first, and are 9-0 when leading after three innings.

• Williams dropped a three-game set to Little 3 rival Amherst College this weekend, winning the middle game 5-4 between 11-9 and 16-4 setbacks.
• Earlier in the season, Williams lost 10 in a row out in California before defeating Middlebury College 5-3 at Orange.
• Freshman Eric Pappas leads the team in hitting with a .415 batting average, driving in seven runs in 14 games of action.
• Sophomore Mike Stamas leads the team with 21 hits, scoring 11 times to pace the Ephs this season.
• Freshman outfielder Erik Mini leads the team in extra-base hits with six doubles and two homers.
• Freshman George Carroll has tossed 22.2 innings this season to lead Williams, holding a 3.18 ERA over four starts.
• Freshman Bryan Woolley and junior Will O'Brien have each both appeared in seven games this year for the Ephs, who have a 7.58 team ERA.
