POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (March 8, 2018) – The Vassar College women's tennis team will hop back into action this upcoming week, taking on five teams during its trip to Southern California for Spring Break. Vassar is coming off its fourth straight Seven Sisters Championship two weeks ago, and is 6-1 heading out to the West Coast.

Courtney Geiss was named to the All-Seven Sisters team for singles, while Morgan Flournoy and
Tara Edwards along with
Dasha Ivenitsky and
Sarra Yekta were each doubles All-Seven Sister honorees.
A Look At The Brewers (6-1):
- Vassar comes into the weekend with a 6-1 record, having defeated all six Division III opponents it has played.
- VC is an impressive 39-8 in double's action this season, led by the 10-0 record from sophomore Vista Grinde while freshman Sarra Yekta and sophomore Tara Edwards each have 10 doubles' wins as well.
- The Brewers have posted a whopping 23 different pairs this year in doubles action, and all but one team has a winning record together.
- Sophomore Ashley Fair has gone 8-0 this season in singles' play, and is now 11-3 in her career for the Brewers.
- VC has had success at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions in dual matches, going 6-1 in each spot with a winning percentage of .857.
- Sophomore Meghan Rodick leads the team with total singles' victories this year with 10, equaled by senior Courtney Geiss, who has played at a team-high four different spots in the lineup.
- Senior Kate Christensen comes into the Spring Break trip with 60 career singles' wins, 29 more than the next active player on the Brewers (Geiss, 31).
- After winning 11 matches as a freshman and sophomore, Geiss is already at nine wins as a senior as she looks to post her career-best total.
- Edwards has been strong this season in singles, as all of her wins this year have been in straight sets while four of her five losses were in three sets.
A Look At Vassar's Spring Break Competition:
- Bowdoin College, from the very strong New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), is currently ranked No. 5 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Top 40 rankings.
- Bowdoin's only dual match this season was a 6-3 win over Skidmore College back in October. Tess Trinka is currently ranked No. 16 as an individual by ITA, with a 5-1 record this season.
- Bowdoin also will look to Tasha Christ, who played No. 2 in its lone dual match, and is 4-1 this year.
- Biola University (Division II) is 1-8 this year, its only win coming over NAIA Hope International on February 22.
- Esther Lee is the No. 1 player for the Eagles, as she has chalked up a 2-7 record at the top spot.
- Lauren Lee leads the team in doubles' victories with three this season, going 2-0 at No. 1 doubles on the year.
- Whitman College is ranked No. 29 in the latest ITA rankings, dropping two spots after the fall.
- Whitman features ITA's No. 12 doubles team of Andrea Gu and Hannah Greenberg, the Northwest ITA Regional champs this season.
- The Blues are led in singles by Gu, who is 2-1 at No. 1 this season, as she is one of four players including Greenberg, Jenna Gilbert and Lori Sheng that have posted seven wins this year.
- Chapman currently is 1-4 on the season, coming off a 7-2 loss to ranked Christopher Newport (VA), while all four of Chapman's losses are to ranked opposition.
- Alisa Organovich leads the team with a 4-1 record, while Isabella Oederkerk is 3-4 while playing at No. 1 singles for Chapman.
- The Beavers of CalTech are 1-4 on the season, defeating Colorado College while dropping matches to Claremont-Mudd-Scripts, Redlands, Brandeis and CNU.
- Kana Moriyama is 4-5 overall in singles, playing mostly at the No. 1 position in dual matches. Julia Reisler is also 4-6 in singles, playing at the No. 2, 3 and 4 spots.
Up Next: Once the Brewers return from California, they will host their first home match of the spring against new Liberty League foe at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 31.
