Last Time Out: The Brewers picked up their first road and come from behind victory of the season defeating Oneonta 2-1. After falling behind 1-0 just five minutes into the second half the Brewers responded with a goal 13 seconds later to tie the game back up. Freshman
Ally Thayer buried her first career goal off of fellow freshman
Emily Longo's first career assist. The freshmen class was not done yet as
Ashley Ferry notched her fourth goal on the season 25 minutes later to put Vassar in the lead for good.
A Look At The Brewers (3-2-1)
- Freshman Ashley Ferry ranks in the top three in the Liberty League in goals (4), assists (5), and points (13).
- Vassar has had a variety of starting lineups with 15 different players receiving starts and only six starting all six games thus far.
- The Brewers have been a stronger second half team this season with two more goals, 10 more shots, and eight more corners than in the first half.
- Junior forward Audrey Pillsbury is due to find the back of the net as just two of her eighteen shots this season have done so thus far. With the amount of chances she creates, she should be in line for a scoring outbreak in the next few games.
- The Vassar freshmen class has had an immediate impact on this team with 8 goals and 9 assists offensively to go along with all the production Fiona Walsh has had in goal.
- Junior Sara Seper has been a workhorse and leader in the midfield as she has registered 469 minutes this season while also contributing offensively to the tune of her two assists.
- Vassar eagerly awaits the returns of sophomores Savannah Cutler and Jordan Moss who both were key contributors on the 2016 squad but have been sidelined with injuries for most of the 2017 campaign.
- Senior Amanda McFarland has been a strong presence in the midfield for the Brewers with two goals on the season to go along with the leadership and poise she brings to the rest of the roster.
A Look At The Hawks (4-2-1)
- The Hawks have been strong offensively averaging 13.9 shots a game with 2.57 of those resulting in goals. Although, much of this is accounted for in their 8-0 victory over John Jay in which they recorded 29 shots.
- New Paltz's offensive production has been very even and widespread with no player having more than eight points this season but seven with at least four.
- The two offensive leaders for the Hawks are Danielle Grossi and Gabriela Cabello. Both have tallied three goals and assisted on another two this season.
- There has been a legitimate competition in net for the Hawks as both Megan Tornatore and Katelyn Cordero have started at least three games between the pipes this season.
- New Paltz does not have a single player who has started all seven games this season and only six who have started six games.
- Having recorded over 550 minutes a piece, defenders Shaye Alviene, Kristin Lasker, and Julia Friedman have logged the most minutes this season for New Paltz.
Against New Paltz All-Time: The Brewers are 19-7-0 all time against the Hawks. The last four contests have gone Vassar's way and in the past two seasons the Brewers have outscored New Paltz 5-0.
Up Next: Vassar will open up Liberty League play and take on the Tigers of Rochester Institute of Technology. That game will take place on Gordon Field in Poughkeepsie, NY on Saturday, September 23
rd at 3 p.m.
