Poughkeepsie, NY – Vassar College Director of Athletics and Physical Education
Michelle Walsh has announced that Head Women's Soccer Coach
Keith Simons has stepped down to accept the same position at Connecticut College.
Simons authored one of the finest chapters in Vassar Women's Soccer history, guiding the Brewers to a 53-24-16 overall record in five seasons, including a 23-10-12 mark in Liberty League play.
Said Simons, "It's been a privilege to lead this program for the past five seasons. I'm extremely grateful for the relationships we've created and so proud of the growth and success of Vassar Women's Soccer. We've broken so many records and we accomplished that together. Not only did we form winning teams, but we did it with great people. The future is bright and I fully expect that to continue."
Under Simons' tutelage, Vassar appeared in the Liberty League Championship tournament in four seasons and won the regular season and tournament championships in 2025, Vassar's first ever in both categories. The Brewers recorded a program record 16 wins in 2025 and won at least nine contests three times in five seasons.
Vassar made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2018 in 2024 with the Brewers scoring a 1-0 First Round win over St. Mary's (MD.) to produce the program's first ever win in the national tournament. 2025 saw the Brewers top RIT 1-0 in the Liberty League Championship Final and earn its second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Simons, who headlined the Liberty League and United Soccer Coaches Region III Coaching Staff of the Year, mentored 27 All-Liberty League performers in five seasons, 12 All-Region selections, a pair of All-Americans and 19 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selections.
Alice Crowley and
Ava Holman highlighted the All-Conference picks with back-to-back Rookie of the Year honors in 2024 and 2025 with
Lindsey Nihei earning the 2025 Liberty League Championship Most Outstanding Performer award.
Vassar will commence a national search for Simons' position immediately in advance of the 2026 season.
