POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (August 31, 2017) – The Vassar College women's golf team kicks off their season on Saturday at the Casperkill Golf Club in Poughkeepsie, NY against Union College beginning at 2:00 p.m.

A Look At The 2017 Brewers: Vassar has three players returning to the squad in 2017, senior Annie Hsu, sophomore Andrea Han, and sophomore Qiwen Tan. Two rookies join the Brewer family in Margaret Liu from Shanghai, China and Morgan Yi from Jericho, NY.

As a junior, Hsu averaged a score of 89.1 in 18 rounds of action. Her 18-hole low came in the first round of the Vassar Invitational when she shot an 82. Hsu's tournament low came in the Liberty League Championships where she scored a 168.

In her first year on the team, Han averaged an 81.7 in her 18 rounds of play. Her 18-hole low came in the first round of the Vassar Invitational when she shot a 76. And her 36-hole low score came at the Liberty League Championships where she posted back-to-back 78's for a 156 total.

Tan also played in 18 rounds as a rookie, averaging an 86.1 score. Her 18-hole low was an opening round 79 at the NYU Fall Invitational. Tan shot a 168 twice to set a 36-hole low at the Mount Holyoke and Jack Leaman Invitationals.

Last Season: The Brewers had one of their best performances in program history at the 2017 Liberty League Championships. As a squad, they fired a team score of 326 on Sunday to finish in fourth place overall. That was the second-lowest 18-hole team score in program history, one shy of the record 325. Andrea Han nearly broke the 36-hole program record when she carded a 156, good enough for a fourth place finish overall. Annie Hsu ended the tournament in 15^th place, while Qiwen Tan finished tied for 18^th.

Last Time Against Union: Vassar started 2016 with a 5-0 win over Union College on September 11. The teams played a modified match play format as the student-athletes played the full 18 holes but also scored the holes like match play. Andrea Han played at the No. 1 spot, while Qiwen Tan and Annie Hsu rounded out spots two and three for the Brewers.

Up Next: After Saturday's action against Union, the team will compete in the St. Lawrence Invitational on September 9-10 in Canton, NY at the Appleton Golf Course.
