POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (March 6, 2017) — The Vassar College men's lacrosse team (3-0) hosts Mount Saint Mary College at Weinberg Field on Wednesday, March 8 at 6 p.m. The Brewers will be looking to extend their record to four straight wins to start the season.

Last Time Out: Vassar took games against SUNY Oneonta and Swarthmore College last week to improve to 3-0 on the season. The Brewers defeated the Red Dragons 10-3 on Wednesday and the Garnet 8-3 on Saturday.
A Look at the Brewers (3-0):
- Vassar freshmen have shined in the Liberty League. Michael Mullen earned Rookie of the Week for the first week of play, while Matthew Lowery earned the award for the second, as announced on Monday. Senior middie Liam Moriarty also earned an Honor Roll nod in latest release.
- The Brewers are off to the best start in program history, sporting a 3-0 record with wins over Drew University, Oneonta and Swarthmore.
- VC most recently held a previously undefeated Swarthmore team to just three scores. The Garnet had been averaging 15 goals per game in their two games prior.
- Vassar's tenacious defense has held opponents to just 11 goals over the first three games.
- The Brewers are averaging 8.00 goals per game, while holding opponents to an average of 3.67. They're outshooting opponents 101-56 overall and 57-29 in shots-on-goal.
- VC has been aggressive when given the opportunity, capitalizing on 3-of-9 extra-man opportunities, while holding opponents to 0-of-9.
- Sam Houston-Read leads the Brewer offense with 10 points on five goals and five assists. Michael Mullen (4g, 3a) and Liam Moriarty (1g, 6a) are second on the team with seven points apiece.
- Lowery has been a phenomenal addition to the Brewers, winning 76.2 percent of his faceoffs on the way to picking up a team-best 21 ground balls.
- Matt Boyd and Eric Mikelinich have split time in net. Boyd sports a 2-0 record, making nine stops for a 64.3 save percentage, while Mikelinich has a 1-0 record, making nine for a 60.0 save percentage.
- The Brewers look to build upon their record-setting season, in which they finished 2016 with an 8-8 overall mark. The previous high in wins was six, which had been attained three times before (2015, 2014, 2009).
- This season, the Brewers are captained by Matthew Altman, Brandon DeStasio, Houston-Read and Moriarty.
A Look at the Knights (1-1):
- The Knights are 1-1 with a 20-15 loss at home against Western Connecticut State on Feb. 25 and a 10-9 overtime win on the road against Marywood University on Feb. 28. Their game against Cazenovia College for this past Saturday was canceled.
- MSMC has been slightly outshot by opponents 92-82 overall and 56-51 in shots-on-goal.
- Of the Knights' 25 goals, 12 have been assisted. Meanwhile, opponents have assisted on 25 of 29 of their goals.
- MSMC has tallied three man-up and two man-down goals, while opponents have scored five and zero, respectively.
- MSMC has struggled out the gate, scoring just two goals in the first quarter to opponents' nine.
- Dylan DeMeo leads MSMC with 13 points on four goals and nine assists. Tristan Earle and Danny Kugler have both netted six for second on the team in points. Kugler has scored all six of his goals off the bench.
- DeMeo, Christopher Doerr, Sean Jennings and Michael Capetola have each picked up five ground balls to lead the team. DeMeo and Capetola have also forced a team-high two turnovers, along with Kenneth Gallagher.
- Doerr and AJ Galletta have both seen time in net. Doerr owns a 1-1 record, making 26 stops for a 50.0 save percentage, while Galletta has made one save and surrendered three goals over eight minutes of play.
- Specialist Joseph Timmons has won 19 of 45 faceoffs for a 42.2 success percentage.
- The Knights look to improve upon their 2016 campaign, in which they finished 10-6 overall and 1-5 in the Skyline Conference.
Against MSMC All-Time: The Brewers are 3-1 against the Knights all-time, dating back to their first meeting in 2013. Vassar has taken the past two meetings, most recently topping MSMC 13-6 on the road last season.
