Last Time Out: The Brewers are coming off a weekend with a pair of wins against Juniata College and Arcadia University, elevating their winning streak to nine games.  Freshman Yoni Auerbach led the way with a career-high 15 kills in Vassar's 3-0 win over Juniata.  Junior Zechariah Lee turned in a tremendous all-around performance as the Brewers held Arcadia to 23 kills and a .074 hitting percentage in a 3-0 afternoon win.

A Look At The No. 4 Brewers (21-6)
  • Setter Zechariah Lee continues to expand his game in his junior campaign.  He eclipsed 900 assists this weekend, and has chipped in 40 aces, 84 kills, and 141 digs.
  • Vassar has come up big in close matches this year, winning four of five 5th sets.  Their only five-set loss came against Eastern Mennonite University on January 28th.
  • The Brewers swept the UVC weekly awards this week.  Knigge took Player of the Week honors for the second time and Auerbach nabbed Rookie of the Week for the first time with his 24 kills and eight blocks throughout the week.
  • The Brewers and Matthew Knigge continue to run away with the national blocks per set mark.  Knigge accounts for 1.41 of the Brewers' 2.68 per set.
  • Vassar also enjoys an advantage over their opponents in service aces, notching 154 and only allowing 69 so far this season.  They tend to take more risks on the serve, however, as they have 421 errors to their opponents' 376.
  • The Brewers have an excellent chance to go undefeated in conference play this year.  They sit at 5-0 with three games to play; New Paltz is by far their toughest opponent remaining with Penn State-Behrend (9-12) and Bard (4-17) to follow.

A Look At The No. 2 New Paltz
  • New Paltz is first in the UVC in kills/set (12.99), opponent kills/set (8.51), and consequently, kill differential.
  • The Hawks also pace the conference in aces/set (2.32), assists/set (12.20), and opponent digs/set (6.68).
  • New Paltz's only conference loss came against No. 9 NYU in straight sets back on February 11th.  Vassar was able to handle the Bobcats in four sets on March 11th.
  • Junior Anthony Bonilla and Senior Jake Roessler provide a one-two punch for the Hawks, notching 214 and 189 kills respectively.  They sit at fifth and tenth in UVC kills/set.
  • Senior Steven Woessner leads the UVC and sits at 5th in the nation in aces/set at .65.  He is also third on the team in kills with 145 and first in blocks with 56.
  • Senior C.J. Borfitz grabbed the spotlight in this weekend's 3-0 win over No. 10 Hunter College with a season-high 14 kills.

Up Next:
The Brewers will travel to Annandale-on-Hudson, NY this coming weekend looking to close out UVC play undefeated.  They will take on Penn State-Behrend at 1:30 and Bard College at 4 p.m.
