Last Time Out: Vassar was defeated 1-0 in double overtime by the Dutchwoman of Union College. The Brewers offense was held in check for most of regulation and then burst out in the first overtime to the tune of nine shots and five penalty corners. Union was able to hold off this ferocious attack and when they earned a penalty corner three minutes into the second overtime they found the back of the net as Bretta Beer scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Katherine Talacci.

  • The Brewers are third in the Liberty League in goals per game (2.67) and second in goals against per game (1.07).
  • Vassar's converted their scoring opportunities much better in the second half than in the first as they have scored 23 of their 39 regulation goals on just eight more shots in the second half.
  • Junior Megan Caveny ranks third in the Liberty League in points (27) and goals (12) behind Hannah Wood of William Smith and Claire Dickerson of Rochester. She is now second all-time in career points at Vassar with 71 and is one point away from tying the single season record set by Tina Caso in 2013.
  • Behind Caveny the Brewers have a diverse attack with 15 players recording points on the season and 11 with either multiple goals or multiple assists.

A Look at the Royals (15-0, 6-0 Landmark):
  • Scranton is undefeated this season and has been dominant in doing so as they have won by one goal just five times.
  • This season has been an incredible turnaround for the Royals as they went just 5-12 last season and just 2-5 in conference.
  • Scranton's offensive attack is led by Senior Meredith Campbell who is second in the country in goals (28) and points (63). There has been only one game this season that Campbell did not record a point and only five games in which she did not have multiple goals + assists.
  • Junior Elizabeth Tolley does more than enough in support of Campbell offensively as she has contributed 13 goals and four assists for a total of 30 points herself.
  • The Royals are averaging 3.73 goals per game while surrendering just 0.80 for a goal differential of 2.93 per game.
  • Other than splitting time between two goalies, Scranton has had the exact same starting lineup each game, an absolutely remarkable sign of consistency and health. The 10 season long starters have combined for 51 of the teams 56 goals, 33 of the teams 36 assists, and 135 of their 148 points.

Against Scranton All-Time: Vassar is 5-5 all-time against the University of Scranton, but has won the last two contests, in 2015 and 2016, by a combined score of 5-0.

Up Next: Vassar finishes its regular season and celebrates Senior Day on Saturday, October 28th, at 1 p.m. as they welcome the visiting Hawks of New Paltz to Weinberg Field.
