POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 29, 2017) –
Vincent Mencotti and
Alex Riccio both battled for five-set wins, as the Vassar College men's squash team (5-8) fell to Northeastern University at the Hudson Valley Team Tournament in Kenyon Hall on Sunday, 7-2.
In one of the tournament's most exciting matches, Mencotti fell behind, 6-11, 11-3, 5-11, before beating Evan Jacobson in the final two sets, 11-5, 11-5, to secure the win at one. The match point can be viewed

Simultaneously on the court across the way, Riccio was battling in a thriller of his own. After falling behind 11-13, 11-1, 7-11, Riccio fought hard for the final two sets, 12-10, 11-9, to earn the win at seven over Vicente Marquina.
Viraj Nadkarni put up a tough fight at two, but ultimately fell to Karan Kishouepuria in four sets, 9-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-6. A similar battle took place at three, as
Ankit Khosla lost a tough one to Ahmad Sajjad, 11-8, 9-11, 11-7, 11-7.
Samuel Hammer's match at four,
Richard Bryenton's match at five,
Caden Gruber's match at six,
Lucas Fifer's match at eight and
Isaac Stuart's match at nine were all decided in three sets.
The Brewer men next compete at the Liberty League Championships at the University of Rochester on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 4-5, at a time that is to be determined.
