A Look At The Brewers (6-1-2):
  • As of Sept. 27, Vassar is tied for second in the Liberty League standings with a point, alongside Clarkson, RIT (3-3-2, 0-0-1) and Skidmore (3-3-1, 0-0-1). Union College (7-1-0, 1-0-0) and Hobart College (3-3-2, 1-0-0) lead the league with three points apiece. The Brewers also stand at No. 7 in the East on the NSCAA NCAA Division III poll. In the same poll, St. Lawrence (No. 1) and Union (No. 6) currently rank higher, as far as Liberty League opponents.
  • Freshman Mattie Mrlik earned a Liberty League Honor Roll accolade on Monday after his performances last week. The forward tallied two goals and an assist for the week ending on Sept. 25. The full release can be read here.
  • In his first collegiate start, freshman defender Henrik Olsson notched his first collegiate goal, scoring the game-winner in Vassar's 3-0 victory over Elmira on Sept. 20. The game-winner came in the 20th minute, as fellow freshman Mattie Mrlik popped up a header-pass to Olsson, who fired into the far corner from inside the six.
  • Twelve different Brewers have found the back of the net, a testament to the team's depth.
  • Mattie Mrlik paces the team with 14 points (five goals, four assists), which is the second-most points that anyone has collected in the Liberty League, only behind Union's Andrew Fontaine (17 points).
  • Mattie Mrlik has tallied both a goal and an assist in three games so far this season, and has collected at least a point in six of nine games.
  • Hayden Van Brewer has dished out five assists on the season, which is good for second in the conference only behind Union's Andrew Fontaine (seven assists).
  • The Brewers have outshot opponents 164-87 overall and 72-36 in shots-on-goal. Of their 22 total goals, 19 have been assisted.
  • Vassar has scored more than twice as many goals after the break, totaling seven in the first half and 15 in the second.
  • Goalkeeper Matt Marcelino has been solid in the cage, registering 27 saves for a 5-1-2 mark, including two clean sheets. Fellow keeper Will Marment has also spent time in net, starting one game and playing in three for a 1-0-0 record.
  • The Brewer defense has been stifling, shutting out five teams so far in Mount Saint Mary College (Sept. 4), William Paterson University (Sept. 10), Elms College (Sept. 11), New Paltz (Sept. 14) and Elmira (Sept. 20).
  • The Brewers opened the season undefeated through the first six games for the first time since 1994. Senior captain Noah Bloch is the only Brewer who was born before that season, in which Vassar finished 14-2-1 overall, including an ECAC NY-NJ Metro Region Championship. Bloch was just eight days old when the magical season commenced.

A Look At The Golden Knights (4-2-2):

  • The Golden Knights have been outshot by opponents 106-66 overall and 45-31 in shots-on-goal. Still, the Clarkson defense has surrendered just three goals over eight games.
  • All four of the Golden Knights' wins have been shutouts, while both of their losses have been 1-0 affairs.
  • The Golden Knights struggled a bit in 2015, ending the season 5-10-2 overall and 1-6-1 in conference play. They played much better at home, as four of their five victories happened at Hantz Turf Field.
  • Clarkson should be more experienced this year, returning 20 players and seven starters from the 2015 squad.

  • In the 2015 NCAA Tournament, St. Lawrence made it through the first and second rounds, beating the Sage Colleges and University of Scranton, before falling in sectionals at Haverford College, 2-0.
