Last Time OutVassar topped rival Skidmore in a 5-4 thriller on Saturday. The Thoroughbreds had won 40 Liberty League matches prior to the upset, making the victory even sweeter for the Brewers. The Brewers won doubles after duo

Kelsey Van Noy defeated their opponents at three and pair
Hanna McGuire and
Shayna Becker beat their All-American opponents at one. After taking a 2-1 lead into singles,
Morgan Fitzgerald pushed the lead to 3-1 with a win at four. Later, Becker won at five and Flournoy won at six to clinch the match.
A Look at the Bryn Mawr Owls (3-6, 0-3 MARC)After winning their first two matches of the season, the Owls dropped six of their next seven. Their most recent win came March 22 against Goucher by a score of 8-1. Last season, Lizzie Siegle led the team in wins with a 6-9 record. She also led the team, as far a most wins in doubles with a 3-7 record, along with Melina Koukoutchos, who had a 3-10 mark. Siegle and Koukoutchos are both on the team this season, but stats on the school website are currently not up-to-date. Before Bryn Mawr heads to Vassar for the Seven Sisters Championship, it'll host Muhlenberg College on April 5.

A Look at the Smith Pioneers (4-10, 2-6 NEWMAC)The Pioneers have struggled this season, especially of late. They've dropped their past four matches against Regis College, Simmons College, Colby-Sawyer College and Connecticut College. Bryn Mawr's most recent win came Feb. 27 when it shut out Curry College, 9-0. All four of the Pioneers' wins have come at home, as they are 0-4 on the road so far this season. Margaret Anne Smith leads the team with a 6-3 record in singles and a 3-6 mark in doubles with partners Samantha Peikes (1-0) and Noa Dublin (1-2).
Previous MeetingVassar and Smith most recently met at the Seven Sisters Championship in 2015 when the Brewers came out on top, 5-0.
Winnie Yeates and Fitzgerald downed Smith and Peikes 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1, while Becker and McGuire were perfect at No. 2, winning 6-0, 6-0 over Jordan Dubin and Alexandra Steck. The Brewers went 3-0 in singles against the Pioneers, as Ava Sadegi, then-freshman

A Look at the Mount Holyoke Lyons (10-7, 5-3 NEWMAC)The Lyons started the season 4-0, but have since gone 6-7, most recently falling at Connecticut College, 8-1, on Sunday. Prior to the setback, Mount Holyoke enjoyed 8-1 wins over University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez (March 29) and Colby-Sawyer (April 2). The Lyons have faired about the same at home and on the road with 5-4 and 4-3 records, respectively. As of March 28, Michelle Cal (8-5), Ishita Tibrewal (8-4) and Ciara Wang (8-4) led the Pioneers with the most wins in singles. As for doubles, Amy Chen (13-6) had the most wins with partners Madison Rosen (11-6) and Wang (2-0).
Previous MeetingVassar most recently met Mount Holyoke in the 2015 Seven Sisters Championship, coming out with a 5-0 shutout. After sweeping doubles, the Brewers won singles in three straight sets. Christensen got the win at No. 1 singles besting Margaux Holloschutz 6-2, 6-2, while Sadeghi topped Sarah Anischik 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 2. Yeates wrapped up singles for Vassar, defeating Tibrewal 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3.
A Look at the Wellesley Blue (12-5, 6-2 NEWMAC)The Blue will ride a three-match winning streak into Poughkeepsie, having beaten St. Lawrence University, Christopher Newport and most recently Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the fifth annual Northeastern Bowl. Against RPI, junior Carina Chen and freshman Justine Huang combined to help the Blue earn three points in the match. Chen and Huang opened with an 8-2 victory over RPI senior Emily Laurilliard and freshman Maria Salmon in doubles. Chen then defeated Laurilliard at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1, while Huang won by retirement at No. 2 singles. Sophomore Emily Olson clinched the match for the Blue at No. 3 singles, defeating freshman Andrea Valencia, 6-1, 6-1.
Previous MeetingVassar last met Wellesley College during the 2015 Seven Sisters Championship. With Vassar and Wellesley both entering the final match undefeated, the head-to-head bout of nationally ranked teams served as the title match for the Seven Sisters Championship. The Brewers rose to the challenge, edging the Blue 4-1 with two doubles victories and two singles wins. Christensen grinded out a win at No. 1 singles, topping the 21
st ranked player in the Northeast Sojung Lee in three sets. Sadeghi rattled off another win at No. 2 singles over Carina Chen 6-3, 6-1.
Double TroubleTop doubles squad
Hanna McGuire and
Shayna Becker were tabbed as the Liberty League Doubles Team of the Week on Monday. The duo set the tone in Vassar's 5-4 triumph over No. 19 Skidmore on Saturday with a victory at No. 1 doubles. They topped an All-American team in Madie Benn and Michelle Fuca, 8-4, to help give the Brewers a 2-1 edge going into singles play.
The RookieMorgane Flournoy earned Liberty League Rookie of the Week on Monday after her spectacular performance in Vassar's 5-4 victory over No. 19 Skidmore. The match went all the way down to the wire, but the freshman clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Alexa Goldberg at No. 6 singles Saturday.
Up NextThe Vassar women's tennis team stays in Poughkeepsie for matches against Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Saturday, April 16 at 12 noon) and William Smith College (Saturday, April 23 at 2 p.m.) Senior Day will be that Saturday, as the Brewers play their last regular season match the next Saturday in Troy, NY against RPI at noon.
