What To Look For
The Brewers cancelled their game with Stevens in order to take on conference foe Skidmore in a long-awaited matchup. Vassar has an opportunity to get right back into the race in the Liberty League this week, with four games against Rochester this weekend as well. With the threat of more games being cancelled due to weather and the unknown amount of total conference games each team will play, raising your winning percentage every opportunity a team gets will be crucial. If VC can pull a sweep, it can give itself momentum going into the big matchup this weekend against Rochester.

A Look At The Thoroughbreds (6-8, 0-4 Liberty)
Skidmore enters this weekend on a bit of a skid, losing all four games in a weekend series against Rochester. Skidmore enters the week with the Liberty League's third-lowest batting average with a .255 clip, though the Thoroughbreds are third in the conference in doubles with 38. The pitching staff for Skidmore has posted a 7.88 team earned run average this season, as the 146 total runs allowed by SC is the second-most in the conference.

Mike LaVita leads the Thoroughbred offense this season, pacing the team with a .439 batting average, while scoring a team-best 12 runs. LaVita also has a team-leading 18 hits, while Matt Barra is second with 16 hits, including seven doubles. Josh Brown is batting .341 so far on the young season. Nick Petrella has tossed a team-high 27.2 innings on the hill, posting a 2.93 earned run average and a team-best 21 strikeouts. Joe Warner has thrown 15.1 innings of work, going 0-2 with a 5.87 ERA. Skidmore's defense has been solid, as its fielding percentage of .951 is fifth in the Liberty League.

Against Skidmore All-Time
The Brewers and Thoroughbreds have played 60 times, dating back to 1992, and Skidmore holds a 39-21 all-time record against Vassar. Last season, Vassar swept the two-game series, winning both ends of a home-and-home set with the Thoroughbreds with scores of 9-3 and 10-1.

Dak Pack
Junior catcher Dakota Sagnelli (Rumson, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven) leads the team with a .370 batting average. Sagnelli also paces the brewers with a .481 slugging percentage and a .433 on-base percentage.

Bobby Brewer
Freshman infielder Bobby Kinne (Great Barrington, MA/Monument Mountain Regional) was the only Brewer with multiple hits in a single game this weekend, recording two in the first game against RIT. On the season, Kinne has a team-high 15 hits, and is second on the team with a .349 batting average.

Jon Boy
Junior pitcher Jonathan Hong (Orinda, CA/Miramonte) had another solid outing for the Brewers, allowing only one earned run in six innings pitched on Sunday, despite recording the loss. On the season, Hong has a team-low 2.89 ERA among pitchers with more than five innings pitched.

No Hits For You
Sophomore outfielder Denis Shanagher (San Francisco, CA/St. Ignatius College Prep) stepped in to pitch one inning against RIT on Saturday, and ended up earning the only win of the weekend. In three total innings pitched, Shanagher has not allowed a run or a hit. The sophomore also is fifth on the team at the plate with 11 total hits.

None In The Ninth
Vassar scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to pull off a thrilling comeback against RIT on Saturday. The Brewers have been outstanding in ninth innings, outscoring their opponents 7-0.

Up Next
The Brewers will head home to take on Rochester at Prentiss Baseball Field for Saturday and Sunday for Liberty League action.
