Last Time Out
Vassar went 1-1 for its second consecutive Liberty League road doubleheader, first picking up a last second 9-8 comeback win against RIT on Friday before dropping to the University of Rochester 10-6 on Saturday.

A Look at the Hawks (2-7, 1-4 in SUNYAC)
The Hawks are currently on a four game losing streak, facing competition from the challenging SUNY Athletic Conference that includes numerous traditional upstate New York lacrosse powerhouses. New Paltz finished last weekend with an impressive game that ended in a 7-5 loss, where they held the No. 19 SUNY Fredonia squad to only seven goals on 35 shots. Senior goalie Jackie Ulanoff had 22 saves in the loss.

New Paltz has four players with at least 15 goals this season, forming a well-rounded offensive attack. Three seniors lead the squad this season: Kelsey Healy has a team-high 17 goals, while Carissa Citro (16 goals) and Lianna Valdivia (15 goals) have combined for 55 points, 52 draw controls, 38 ground balls, and 24 caused turnovers. Sophomore Melissa Wagner also has 15 goals and three assists for the Hawks this year.

Record Breaker
Senior Jackie Palma (Manhasset, NY/Manhasset) broke the school record for all-time caused turnovers over the weekend, now totaling 88 in her career in the burgundy and gray. The shutdown defender passed Emilie Moeckel's ('05) record of 86 with her third caused turnover against RIT on April 10, and is now in a league of her own in Vassar history. Palma is currently 13th in the country and first in the Liberty League in caused turnovers per game (2.80).

Note: Two of Palma's CTOs from the 2013 season were not originally added to her career total, bringing her to 88 instead of 86 all-time.

Season-Best
Jackie Palma is also currently on pace to break the program record for caused turnovers in a season, coming into Tuesday's matchup with 28 on the year. She is currently eight CTOs away from Kaitlin Harvie's ('05) school record of 36 set back in 2004.

Against New Paltz All-Time
Vassar has never lost to New Paltz, defeating the Hawks in all 10 of their previous meetings. The Brewers last win came on March 23, 2013 with a 15-4 Vassar victory in Kingston, NY.

Rookie of the Week
Freshman Storm Sideleau (Hopkinton, MH/Kimball Union Academy) tallied her first career Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week honor, as she had a huge week for the Brewers helping the team to a 1-1 record in Liberty League play. Sideleau came up clutch for VC against RIT, scoring a goal with one second left in regulation to power VC to a 9-8 win. Sideleau also finished with an assist in the win. She went on to post a game-high four goals against Rochester the following day as Vassar fell 10-6.

Dual Sport Stand Out
Sideleau also picked up Rookie of the Week accolades back in September as a member of the Vassar field hockey team. The League honors in two different sports for Sideleau marked the first time a Brewer accomplished the feat since Zander Mrlik for men's soccer (Defensive Performer) and baseball (Pitcher) back in 2012-13.

Pulling Even
Vassar and its opponents this season have both recorded identical totals of 99 goals. Vassar is currently sharing the ball better compared to its opposition, tallying 47 assists to its opponents 33.

Downing Giants
Vassar's win over RPI on April 3 was a big one, as the loss marked the first Liberty League defeat for the Engineers since April 26, 2013. It was also RPI's first Liberty League home loss since 2012. The victory for Vassar marked the first win over the Engineers since the 2009 season and for only the fourth time in school history.

Wrecking Havoc
Vassar remains ranked first in the Liberty League and 16th in the country in caused turnovers per game (12.30), as the defense has given opposing attacking units problems all season. Leading the way for the Brewers is Jackie Palma with 28 CTOs on the season. Fellow senior defender Evie Toland (Nyack, NY/ Nyack) has also given opponents fits, racking up 15 this season.

Liberty League Standings
Vassar currently sits in the No. 5 spot in the Liberty League with a 3-3 conference record. The Brewers are in a great position to move up in the standings and at least finish in the fourth position with three conference games remaining. Vassar will finish off its conference season with games against last place Bard, ninth place St. Lawrence, and seventh place Clarkson. In addition, the Brewers have already defeated the current fourth place and sixth place teams. If the Brewers play the way they have thus far through the toughest part of their conference schedule, the squad will surely be able to move up in the Liberty League Standings.

Up Next
Vassar will face the Bard Raptors on Saturday April 18 for a Liberty Conference game. Bard currently sits at 1-9 overall and 0-6 in conference.
