Box Score ROCHESTER, NY (April 11, 2015) – Lauren Basil and Jamie Wallisch combined for seven goals as the University of Rochester defeated Vassar College, 10-6, at Edwin Fauver Stadium Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets improve to 8-5 and 4-2 in the Liberty League with the win, while Vassar moves to 5-5 (3-3 LL) with the loss.
Basil scored four goals for Rochester, while Wallisch added three plus one assist, and Elisabeth Watson had two goals. For Vassar, freshman Storm Sideleau (Hopkinton, NY/Kimball Union Academy) tied for a game-high four goals for the Brewers. Junior Isabelle Goldstein (Belmont, MA/Belmont) and freshman Hannah Cho (West Hartford, CT/Hall) both notched goals for VC, while sophomore Julia Trudell (Newtown, CT/Newtown) tallied a team-best two assists.
In goal, Rochester's Maire Prosak picked up the win. In 60 minutes, she made seven saves and allowed six goals. Senior Kate Pula (Washington Township, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) finished with a game-high 10 saves.
Rochester outshot Vassar, 26-18, caused 10 turnovers (three by Wallisch, two by Basil), and won 12 draw controls (eight by Watson). Karpp collected a game-high six ground balls. For Vassar senior Evie Toland (Nyack, NY/Nyack) senior Enya Cunningham (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg), and Trudell each caused two turnovers. Goldstein won three draws and Cunningham won two.
Basil scored from the free position and Wallisch scored two goals six minutes apart as Rochester took a 3-0 lead. Sideleau got the Brewers on the board with 10 minutes left in the half. Rochester pulled away from a 3-1 halftime lead by scoring four times in the first seven and a half minutes. Basil had two goals, Wallisch and Taylor one apiece.
With two goals from Sideleau and one from Cho, Vassar sawed the deficit down to 8-4 with 10 minutes remaining. Watson helped cement the victory for Rochester. She scored from the free position with 7:28 to go and converted a pass from Botto with 6:09 remaining, extending the lead to 10-4.
Goldstein and Sideleau posted the final two goals of the game to pull the Brewers within four, but it was not enough as the Yellow Jackets sealed the 10-6 victory as time expired.
The Brewers will return to the field on Tuesday, April 14 to face local Hudson Valley rival SUNY-New Paltz at 4:30 pm.

Senior Jackie Palma (Manhasset, NY/Manhasset Junior-Senior) has now tied the school record for caused turnovers notching the 86th of her career against Rochester.
Junior Isabelle Goldstein now stands at sixth all-time in career points (138), and now behind teammate Dara Davis (Guilford, CT/Guilford) who stands at No. 5 all-time (156).
