A Look at the Golden Eagles (1-3)Brockport finished their 2013 season with a final record of 6-9, winning two out of their six SUNYAC conference games. This year, they have started off its season in a similar fashion with a 1-3 record. Coming off their first win against Husson, the Golden Eagles will be looking to keep their winning streak alive and get closer to an even record by the end of the weekend.
Low on goals this season, Brockport will look to have a high scoring game on Friday. So far this season, they have a total of two goals, each assisted. Leading the team in offensive stats is freshman Amy Masclale, with one goal and one assist, followed closely behind by senior Abby Eschen, with one goal. Each one has recorded seven shots and five shots on goal, the most of the team. Sophomore goaltender Lindsay Farrell has seen a lot of action in her defensive circle this season, facing a total of 82 shots in four games. Farrell has earned an admirable save percentage of .813% and has one shutout so far this season.
Against Brockport All-TimeThe Brewers have only faced Brockport once, that being in 1988 at the Brockport Invitational Tournament. The final score ended up being a 1-1 split against the two teams.
A Look at the Knights (1-3)Geneseo finished the season with a strong winning record last year, 13-7, only to be swept out of the SUNYAC Tournament Semifinals by opponent New Paltz. Out of the six conference games they played last year, they won five out of the six. The Knights are coming off of a two game losing streak, looking to change that against the 4-0 Vassar Brewers.
The Knights will be looking to increase their offensive push this game. So far this season, they have recorded four goals out of 32 shots. Freshman Cara Stafford has netted three of the four goals earned by the Knights this season, while junior Sarah Malinak has contributed all three assists the team has acquired so far. Stafford leads the team with an impressive shooting percentage of .500%. First year Emma Dempsey, who has also contributed a goal for the team, has a formidable shot on goal percentage of .833%.
Against SUNY Geneseo All-TimeThis will be the first time in Vassar history that the Brewers will be taking on the Geneseo Knights.
Four and Ohhhh! The Brewers moved to 4-0 earlier this week with a dramatic overtime victory over Kean. The four-game winning streak to start the year is the best in program history.
De-Fense!Vassar College has had one of the best defenses to date this season, allowing just 0.3 goals per game, which is by far the best in the conference.
Clutch CunninghamSenior
Enya Cunningham (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) hadn't scored since October 12, 2012, but her first goal in 25 games was huge as it came in overtime against Kean Tuesday.
Goalie!Junior keeper
Amreen Bhasin (Cresskill, NJ/Riverdale) has played the most minutes of any keeper in the Liberty League, but has allowed a League low one goal during the season.
Not Up In HereThe Brewer defense has been stingy as of late, not allowing a goal over the last 2:20.31 of game action.
At EaseSo far this season, Vassar College has allowed just 21 total shots, with five coming on net.
Leader Of The PackSecond-year head coach
Michael Warari has done a fantastic job of stepping in turning the program around. Warari is 15-7 over his two seasons, including earning the league's Coach of the Year award last season.
Up NextVassar finishes its short three-game road trip Wednesday with a night game at Western Connecticut State at 7 p.m. in Danbury, CT.
