Men's Lacrosse Drops 14-5 Non-League Loss To Williams College

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA (April 16, 2014) – The Vassar College men's lacrosse team dropped its final non-league game of the regular season 14-5 to Williams College Wednesday evening at Cole Field.
 
Freshman Sam Houston-Read (Waban, MA/Newton South) led the Brewers (6-7, 1-3 Liberty League) with a hat-trick, scoring once in the second, third and fourth quarters. The goals were his eighth, ninth and tenth goal of the season.
 
Senior Max Herman (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Regional) earned his 130th career point when he scored off a man-up opportunity from a junior Sean Brazier (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) pass at 1:44 in the third quarter. Herman added another point when he was credited with the assist to Houston-Read on the game's final goal at 1:26 in the fourth.
 
Freshman Matthew Altman (New Fairfield, CT/New Fairfield) scored the Brewers other goal of the game while high school classmate Liam Moriarty (New Fairfield, CT/New Fairfield) recorded two helpers on the day.
 
Senior goalie Andrew Nicol (Carmel, NY/Brewster) recorded nine saves out of the 23 shots on goal.
 
The Brewers were close in comparison to the Ephs in ground balls but were outmatched 31-29, and in caused turnovers but once again, were edged out 14-12.
 
The Brewers will next travel to #7 nationally-ranked Union College in Liberty League action on Saturday, April 19 at 1:00 pm in Schenectady, NY. The game will be their final away trip of the season.
