POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (March 8, 2014) – Sophomore Colin Cederna (Milan, MI/Saline) recorded four goals during Saturday's Vassar College men's lacrosse game against the Garnet of Swarthmore College. The Brewers fell 15-10 despite a fourth quarter spurt in hopes of a comeback.

Cederna scored his first goal in the second quarter from a Scott Brekne (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) pass. He then found twine with back-to-back goals in the fourth before Chris Thomson scored the Garnet's (1-2) final netter. Cederna scored last off a pass from senior Max Herman (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Regional).

Herman got things rolling for the Brewers (1-2) with an unassisted goal in the second quarter. He added one more unassisted in the fourth with the dire ambition to get his third hat-trick of the year.

Sophomore Noah Parson (Cary, NC/Panther Creek) continues his scoring streak with his second quarter goal from a pass by Herman. Parson, himself, recorded a helper on Cederna's second goal. Freshman Liam Moriarty (New Fairfield, CT/New Fairfield) recorded two man-up situation goals with assists from junior Sean Brazier (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville). Cederna's second goal was Vassar's other man-up goal while Swarthmore totaled four netters while Vassar was missing a player due to penalties.

Herman led the Brewers with three assists and two goals for five points. Brekne got 10 of Vassar's 24 ground balls. Freshman Gianni Gelormino (Matamoras, PA/Delaware Valley) got his first collegiate assist.

Senior Andrew Nicol (Carmel, NY/Brewster) only recorded 11 saves on Swarthmore's 40-shot day. Jonathan Cohen recorded 16 saves on Vassar's 36 shots. The Garnet also recovered 33 ground balls on the day and Vassar only managed 24.

The Brewers didn't win a single face-off in the first quarter but piled on six in the fourth compared to Swarthmore's loner in the final period.

The Brewers will next take on the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday, March 11 at 4:00 pm at Weinberg Field.
