Max Herman (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Regional), sophomore
Noah Parson (Cary, NC/Panther Creek) and freshman
Liam Moriarty (New Fairfield, CT/New Fairfield).
The game saw nearly six minutes fly by before sophomore
Shane Flattery (Brewster, NY/Brewster) struck and found twine with 9:33 left in the first quarter. Herman followed with a man-up goal from a pass by junior
Sean Brazier (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) at 5:08.
Manhattanville's Colin Morrissey grabbed a pass from CJ Paniccia and cut the Brewer lead in half just eight seconds into the start of the second. Vassar responded to the threat with four, unanswered goals from junior
Scott Brekne (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) at 14:38, Parson at 11:59 and again at 9:18 and Moriarty's man-up goal at 8:31. Flattery, Moriarty, freshman
Sam Houston-Read (Waban, MA/Newton South) and Parson all were credited with assists on those goals, respectively.
Parson also completed his hat-trick with 12 seconds remaining in the half after Connor Normandin netted a ball at 2:40 for the Valiants.
Brekne opened the second half with a goal from freshman
Brandon Klein (Merrick, NY/John F. Kennedy) at 14:24. His goal would go on to be credited as the game-winner as the score stood, 8-2 in favor of the Brewers.
Senior goalie
Andrew Nicol recorded 10 saves after facing 25 shots (17 on goal) for the Brewers. Ian Reill stopped 15 of Vassar's 43 shots (29 on goal).
The Brewers scooped only 41 ground balls while Manhattanville recovered 44. The Valiants also won 16 face-offs while giving up eight.
The Brewers will next travel to Montclair, NJ to face Montclair State University on Wednesday, March 5 at 3:00 pm.
