LOUDONVILLE, NY (May 9, 2013) – Freshman All-Liberty League Honorable Mention centerfielder,
Nick Johnson singled up the middle for the Vassar College baseball 2-1 lead in extra innings during the opening round of the Liberty League Playoffs on Thursday evening. With hopes of upsetting #1 Union College high, Vassar's dreams came to an end when Vince Esposito singled to right field, scoring two runs for the Dutchmen for the 3-2, walk-off win.

Joe Lovizio started on the mound for the Brewers and pitched eight innings. He gave up only four hits and one earned run while striking out three batters. Freshman All-Liberty League Second Team Relief Pitcher,
Connor Cucalon, came in to pitch the ninth and start of the tenth inning. He gave up three hits. Andrew Beaule picked up the win for Union in 0.1 innings pitched.
The loss sets the Brewers back with a record of 17-19-1 overall record. They will next face St. Lawrence University tomorrow at 9:30 am. Union will face RPI tomorrow at 1:00 pm with its 25-11 record.
All-Liberty League First Team first baseman,
Brett Zaziski got the early, 1-0 score when he grounded into a 6-4-3 double play, but not before All-Liberty League First Team shortstop,
Mike Perrone crossed the plate.
Union responded in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI groundout by Eric Egan, scoring Tyler Heck. Heck and Anders Goetz both went 2-for-3 with a run each for the Dutchmen.
Perrone was two for five with two runs for the Brewers.
