PURCHASE, NY (May 1, 2013) – The Vassar College baseball team held onto a 13-1 lead after four innings of play for a non-conference, 17-11 win over Manhattanville College Wednesday evening.

Brett Zaziski started the eight-run scoring spree for the Brewers in the top of the first with a double to right field. Freshman
Brooks English crossed home for the 1-0 lead. Freshman
Nick Johnson hit a single to right field, scoring Zaziski.
The Brewers will next go into their final four games of their regular season. They will travel to Schenectady, NY with a 15-16-1 and 10-12 Liberty League record on Saturday, May 4 at 1:00 pm. They will then return to Poughkeepsie, NY for their final double header with the Dutchmen and for Senior Day. The Valiants fall to 13-27 on the season. They will next face Misericordia on May 3 at 4:00 pm, starting the Freedom Conference Tournament in Quakertown, PA.
Harrison Remler picked up his first win of the season from the mound. He pitched two innings with two hits and one earned run. He retired two batters while walking three. Freshmen
Elijah McDonnaugh and Johnson also had two strikeouts apiece.
Vassar added another five runs in the second, one in the third and five in the fourth for the 13-1 lead. The Valiants battled back in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings. They totaled five runs in the seventh after Vassar had scored four in the top.
They continued with two runs in both the eighth and ninth innings.
Zaziski was 4-for-5 on the day with four runs and one RBI. Senior

Dave Robbins both tallied three RBI on the day.
