POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 15, 2013) – St. Lawrence University scored ten, unanswered runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings of the nightcap, earning a series split with the Vassar College baseball team on Monday evening at Prentiss Field. The Brewers won the first game, 7-2 while the Saints picked up the second game win, 11-5.

The split gives the Brewers at a record of 10-11-1 and 6-8 in the Liberty League. They will next host Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday, April 17 at 4:00 pm in one, nine-inning game. The Saints advance to 12-8 and 7-5 in League play. They will next host Plattsburgh on Tuesday, April 16 at 4:00 pm.
St. Lawrence battled back in the top of the sixth inning of game one, down 3-0. Khifer O'Connor hit a sacrificed flyball to freshman center fielder,
Nick Johnson, and scored Bryan Palermo. Jeff Kott singled up the middle for the Saint's second run of the game, scoring Mark Syron. Both runs were unearned and did not affect senior pitcher
Zander Mrlik's ERA.
With the Saints nipping at the heels of the Brewers, 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Perrone singled just short of Saints third baseman, O'Connor. His single came when the bases were loaded and scored Johnson across home plate. English then hit a single down the right field line for two RBI, scoring Garfinkel and Casey for the 6-2 Brewer lead. Brett Zaziski hit his first of two doubles of the day to center field, scoring Perrone for the final, 7-2 score.
Mrlik pitched all seven innings of game one, picking up his third win of the season. He was two innings away from a no-hitter, giving up his first hit in the top of the sixth. He gave up a total of three hits and four walks. He struck out one Saints batter. Chris Kellogg picked up the loss for St. Lawrence, pitching 5.1 innings. He gave up eight hits, walked three batters, intentionally walked one and hit another. All five of his runs were earned.
Morash got things rolling in game two of the twin bill. He singled to center field in the bottom of the first, scoring Perrone for the 1-0 lead. Zaziski added to the Brewer lead with a single to right field in the bottom of the second. He picked up two RBI when senior catcher

St. Lawrence responded with five, unearned runs in the top of fifth and another five earned runs in the top of the sixth.
Michael Dell'Olio picked up his first win of the season, giving up five hits and two runs. Freshman
Jonathan Hong got the loss for the Brewers on the mound. He pitched 4.2 innings and gave up five hits and five, unearned runs. He also struck out three Saints.
