POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (March 6, 2013) – The Vassar College men's lacrosse team succumbed to the offensive prowess of Montclair State University 19-5 on a frigid Saturday evening at Weinberg Field.
The Brewers took the early lead when sophomore midfielder
Scott Brekne put away the game's opening shot from long range. However Montclair recovered quickly, and took control of the game when Red Hawks attacker Sam Morrissey caught a hard pass inside the crease and buried the ball in the net from close range. Morrissey would go on to add four more goals and two assists to his tally.
The Brewers drop to 2-2 on the season, while the Red Hawks improve to 3-1. Vassar will next host Western Connecticut State University on Wednesday, March 13 at Weinberg Field at 4:30 pm. Montclair will next travel to Collegeville, PA to face Ursinus College on Wednesday, March 13 at 4:00 pm.
Towards the end of the first half, the Brewers capitalized on the man-up opportunity with goals from junior attacker
