Men's Lacrosse Faces Montclair Under The Lights Tonight

Sean Brazier had two goals and one assist on Saturday.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (March 6, 2013) – The Vassar College men's lacrosse team will look to host their third home game of the 2013 season tonight when they face Montclair State University under the lights of Weinberg Field tonight.

Game Time:  Wednesday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m.

Vassar Men's Notes (2-1):   Vassar made a third quarter comeback against Manhattanville College Saturday evening started by Sean Brazier's solo goal with 9:42 remaining. Senior Ryan McCarthy broke through the Valiants' defense for a solo, game-tying goal, 5-5. Noah Parson, Tyler Morrow, Brazier and Shane Flattery added goals in the third quarter while the Brewer defense led by junior goalie Andrew Nicol allowed only one goal for a 9-6 lead. Vassar added three more goals and allowed one goal in the fourth for a final, 12-7 win.

Freshman Shane Flattery recorded his first collegiate hat-trick. Freshman Noah Parson leads the Brewers with 12 points from his eight goals and four assists. Freshman Colin Cederna follows with six goals and five assists for 11 points. Sophomore Scott Brekne leads Vassar with 29 ground balls and 55.1% of the faceoffs won. Nicol has 43 saves from the 114 shots he has faced in goal. He also has 17 ground balls.
 
Next Up For Vassar: The Brewers will next host Western Connecticut on March 13 at 4:30 pm.

Montclair Notes (2-1):  The Red Hawks started the season with a two-win streak, defeating Muhlenberg College on February 20, 9-6 and Liberty League member, RPI on February 23, 10-9. They recently fell to Dickinson College on March 2, 14-8 in their second home game of the season. Dickinson jumped out to a six-goal lead at halftime which proved enough to hold back the persistent Hawks.

Montclair is averaging nine goals a game with a shooting percentage just below 30%, 28.4%. The Red Hawks are led by brothers Zach and Michael Schreck. Zach leads with six goals and three assists while Michael mirrors in goals with two assists. Michael Dorn has 29 saves in goal from the 94 shots he has faced.

Next Up: After tonight's game, Montclair will travel to Ursinus College on March 13 at 4:00 pm.

Coaches: Vassar is coached by Marc Graham, who is in his second season.

Manhattanville is coached by Chris Kivlen, who is in his first season.
