Solid Offense Gives Utica A 16-4 Win Over Men's Lacrosse

UTICA, NY (March 20, 2013) – The Vassar College men's lacrosse team fell to Utica College, 16-4 Wednesday afternoon after a quick 3-0 start in the first quarter of play at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.

Freshman attacker Noah Parson led the way for the Brewers with two goals off his four shots. Parson was joined in the third quarter scoring effort for Vassar by sophomore Sean Brazier.

The Brewers fall below .500 with a 3-4 record and will next host Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Saturday, March 23 at 1:00 pm on Weinberg Field, opening the 2013 Liberty League action. The Pioneers advance to 3-1 on the season and will next host SUNY Potsdam on Saturday, March 23 at 1:00 pm.

David Craig got things rolling in the standstill first quarter with an unassisted goal for Utica at 12:10. Scott Baron added the Pioneers' second goal with under five minutes remaining off an assist from Ben Winkler, giving them the 2-0 lead. Winkler found another Pioneer less than two minutes later for the third goal of the game.

Junior attacker Max Herman broke open the second half scoring with an unassisted goal at 13:34 and gave the Brewers some hope as the score stood, 3-1. It took Utica 20 seconds to score another unassisted goal in response from Andrew Jamieson. Utica tallied another three goals before the half for a 7-1 lead.

Despite Parson's 18th goal of the season in the fourth quarter at 9:30, Utica piled five more in that quarter for the 16-4 win.

Junior goalie Andrew Nicol had 17 saves in the loss. Trey Adams and Andrew DiOrio added five each for Utica. Adams picked up the win.
