POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (February 26, 2013) – The Vassar College men's lacrosse team will look to bounce back from a tough 20-10 loss to Kean University on Wednesday night, hosting Manhattanville College on Saturday, March 2 at 3:00 p.m. at Weinberg Field.

Vassar Men's Notes (1-1): The Brewers suffered a tough 20-10 loss to Kean on Wednesday night. Vassar had lost an 8-7 overtime game against Kean in the 2011 season. It followed a big 10-8 season-opening win to start the 2010 season.
Kean led the game 2-1 after the first period, but exploded for seven unanswered goals in the second period to lead 9-1 and pull away to the victory. The Brewers were able to close within 12-7 in the third period, but the Cougars went on another scoring burst, adding six straight goals to surge ahead 18-7.
Freshman
Noah Parson had a four goal game for the Brewers.
Max Herman had two goals and an assist.
Liberty League Honors: Junior attack

Scott Brekne and freshman attack Colin Cerderna, all earned Liberty League honors on Monday. Herman, the Offensive Performer of the Week, started the 2013 season off with a bang, leading the Brewers to a 15-9 victory over Maritime. In the contest, Herman had two goals and three assists. He added two grounds balls. Brekne was named Defensive Performer of the Week. He had 11 ground balls, which represents a new career high. He was also 14 of 24 as Vassar's top face-off player. Cederna was named the Rookie of the Week. He had a phenomenal college debut against Maritime College. He notched a hat trick and added two assists in Vassar's 15-9 victory over Maritime. Cederna scored three of Vassar's first nine goals and added five ground balls.
Last Game vs. Manhattanville: On March 3, 2012, the Brewers defeated Manhattanville 7-4 in Purchase, getting hat tricks from graduated forward

Andrew Nicol was stingy in nets, making 13 saves.
Next Up For Vassar: Vassar will play its next two games at home against Montclair (March 6) and Western Connecticut (March 13).

Manhattanville Notes (0-0): Saturday is the season Opener for the Valiants, who finished the 2012 season at 4-11, 2-3 in the Skyline.
Manhattanville graduated leading scorer Corey Steinel, who had 21 goals and five assists last season. The team does return second leading scorer, senior attack Will Sahakian, who had 16 goals and 10 assists. The other top returning scorer for the Valiants is senior midfielder Billy Motherway, who had 14 goals and five assists.
As a team, Manhattanville scored 111 goals last season (7.4 per game), with six players having double figures in goals.
Opponents scored 166 goals (11.06 per game). Senior goalie Dom Poletto returns in nets. He started in 14 of 15 games last year and had a 10.73 goals against average. He made 193 saves.
