POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (February 19, 2013) – Following a 3-0 week – which consisted of a home opener win over Hunter and capturing the SUNY IT tri-match last Saturday – the No. 14 nationally ranked Vassar College men's volleyball team returns home to Kenyon Hall to face No. 8 New York University on Thursday, February 21 at Kenyon Hall at 7:00 p.m.

Vassar Men's Notes (3-3, 3-2): The Brewers are ranked No. 14 in the national AVCA February 12 poll. Vassar has won its last three matches 3-0 over Hunter, SUNY IT, and Keuka.

Stats: Freshman Reno Kriz leads the Brewers in kills with 78, hitting .335. Senior Matt Elgin closely follows Kriz with 75 kills, hitting .444. Elgin was named the United Volleyball Conference Player of the Week, after he hit .657 with 25 kills in three matches last week, and added eight digs and 12 total blocks (5 BA, 7 BS). Senior setter John Konow has 250 set assists. Senior libero Christian La Du has recorded 75 digs this season.

Next Up: The Brewers travel to New York, NY for the Baruch Tournament this Saturday and Sunday, February 23-24. They play host Kean on Saturday at 4 pm and Baruch at 6:00 pm. On Sunday, Vassar faces Rivier at Noon and MIT at 2:00 p.m.

NYU Notes (6-3, 4-1): NYU, ranked No. 8 in the AVCA poll, finished the first UVC Crossover weekend 2-1, with wins over Hilbert and Penn State Behrend, and a loss to Nazareth College. Most recently, NYU suffered a home loss 3-1 to Princeton University on February 16. Freshman Nick Benson led all players with 14 kills, while Junior setter Connor Mortland recorded 40 assists.

Keith Waddell leads NYU in kills this season with 78. Nick Benson follows close behind with 76.

Next Up: NYU will travel to SUNY New Paltz next Tuesday, February 26, in a UVC match at 7:00 pm.
