Robert Wolter finished his fourth season with the Brewers in 2015, finishing the year with a 67-58 record during his four seasons at the helm of the men's volleyball squad. Â
Wolter helped lead the Brewers to their first 20-win season since 2006 in 2013, while earning a semi-final appearance in the UVC Tournament. During his tenure at VC, Wolter has coached five All-UVC players, a Rookie of the Year receipient in Zechariah Lee, while also seeing Matt Elgin earn AVCA All-American accolades as a junior and senior. In 2015, Wolter again helped lead the Brewers back to the UVC Playoffs, as the team posted 18 wins, including victories over two ranked opponents in No. 10 NYU and No. 13 MIT.
Before coming to Vassar, Wolter assisted with the 2011 Carthage men’s team that finished with a 23-11 record and finished third in the Molten Invitational National Championships for a second straight year. He was part of a coaching staff that had two American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Second-Team All-Americans and the national Freshman of the Year. In the 2010 season as an assistant with the women’s team, Wolter helped Carthage earn a Midwest-III Conference Tournament Championship, earn a third place finish in the Central Region and finish the second ranked in the AVCA top-ten.
From 2003 to 2007, Wolter was an assistant coach at Wisconsin-Parkside before being elevated to interim head coach for the 2008-09 season. In 2002, he served as an assistant women’s volleyball coach at Division II South Dakota State University and has extensive experience coaching volleyball at both the high school, club and junior levels. He was the Junior Olympic Head Volleyball Coach in Milwaukee (2008-09), from 2003-07 directed the Southwest Elite Volleyball Club and from 1997-2007 he held various high school coaching positions in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Born in Bangkok, Thailand, and part of a military family, Wolter attended high school in Ogden, Utah. He graduated from the University of Minnesota-Mankato in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. While at Minnesota-Mankato, Wolter was a decathlete on the track and field team and a member of the club volleyball squad.
Wolter received his master’s in education from Carthage in 2010.
