What to Look For
The Brewers (3-1) are coming off a 78-70 win over the visiting Western Connecticut State University Colonials last Tuesday at the Athletics and Fitness Center. Sophomore guard Erikson Wasyl (Durham, CT/Coginchaug) scored a career-high 26 points in the win with 15 of them occurring in the second half. Nine of Wasyl's points were from the free throw line as he went 9-for-12. Junior forward Alex Snyder (Rutland, VT/Rutland) recorded his third double-double of the year with 12 boards and 10 points.

The Brewers are averaging 73.5 points per game while giving up 66.8 points a showing. Vassar holds a 41.0 to 33.5 rebounds per game advantage over its opponents this season as well. Sophomore guard/forward Johnny Mrlik (San Francisco, CA/St. Ignatius College Prep) leads the offense with 18.5 points per game and is shooting 90.5% from the free throw line. Wasyl sits in second with 16.8 points per game and also leads the team with eight steals. Snyder is pulling down nine boards a game while junior forward Luka Ladan (Belmont, MA/Belmont) leads the bench with 10.3 points a game and 4.5 rebounds an outing.

The Brewers passing is leading opponents right now. Vassar is averaging 11.5 assists per game while its opponents are sitting on 9.8 a showing. Mrlik is averaging 3.3 a game with Wasyl and junior guard Curtis Smith (Mastic, NY/Eastport South Manor) following with 1.8 a game. Movement on defense for the Brewers has kept their opponents from scoring in the paint. In Vassar's lone loss to Clark in its season opener, Clark managed only 18 of its 65 points in the paint. In the Brewers' highest-scoring game of the season, Roger Williams scored 30 of its 71 points in the paint.

A Look at the Rangers
The Rangers are also on a three-game win streak with their 84-73 win over King's College on Tuesday. Mike Klinger played all 40 minutes and led the game with 26 points while also pulling in eight rebounds. Kevin-Michael Miller recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. The duo led two other Rangers in double figure scoring.

A total of 128 shots were taken in the contest with Drew hitting 26-of-60 and Kings sinking 30-of-68. Kings essentially lost due to its 26 fouls, which sent a Ranger to the line for a total of 32 free throws. Drew made 23 of them with 11 coming from Klinger. Drew was also 9-for-19 from 3-point land while Kings managed only one of its 13 3-point attempts.

Drew is leading its opponents in scoring by a margin of 1.5 points per game with an average scoring of 77 an outing. Under the basket however, the Rangers are failing to pull in the rebounds, averaging 36.3 a game while letting go 45.3 a game. The Rangers are more of a shooting team with a field goal average of 42%, 3-point percentage of 39.4% and an impressive 73.5% from the charity line. Defensively, besides the issues the Rangers have had under the basket, they are failing to create turnovers, having averaged five steals a game.

Against Drew All-Time
These two teams are currently at a standstill in the series, 2-2. Vassar has won the past two meetings, 71-53 at Drew on November 18, 2008 and 63-58 at Vassar on December 5, 2006. The largest differential in scores for these two squads was in the November 24, 1991 meeting where Drew won 98-71 at the Stony Brook Tournament. Two years prior to that at Vassar, the two teams created the highest-scoring game in the series with the Rangers walking away with a 98-95 win.

New Eras Need New Beginnings
The Brewers, under the direction of first year head coach B.J. Dunne, have won their last three games in a row. This is the first time since the fall portion of the 2008-09 season that Vassar has been on a three-game win streak.

Here Buddy, You Shoot It
If things continue for the Brewers, it will be the first time since the 2007-08 season that Vassar has dished out more assists than its opponents. In the later season, the Brewers had 354 assists on the season while their opposites had 330 (13.6-12.7 a game averages). This time last year the Brewers only had 37 assists, but this year they have 46 with all but one player having one or more.

Step To The Line
Freshman Otis Osman (Far Hills, NJ/Pingry School), Wasyl, Mrlik, Ladan, freshman Mikey Adams (Natick, MA/St. Sebastian's School), junior Andrew Adkins (Richmond, VA/Steward School) and senior Evan Carberry (Metuchen, NJ/Metuchen) all have free throw percentages above .500.

The Three From Three
Wasyl, Mrlik and Smith lead Vassar in 3-pointers. Wasyl has the most and also the highest percentage. He has sunk 13-of-23 (.565) so far this season. Mrlik adds another nine 3-point buckets and Smith tallied three this year.

Wanna Play A Board Game?
Snyder and Mrlik are No. 2 and No. 3 in the Liberty League individual stat standings in rebounds per game. Behind Hobart's Richie Bonney with 11.0 boards a game, Snyder has 9.0 and Mrlik averages 8.3. Snyder is also third in the League with 14 offensive rebounds this season but leads with 3.5 offensive rebounds a game.

Up Next
The Brewers will next travel to New London, CT on Tuesday, December 10 for an 8:00 pm tip-off against the Camels of Connecticut College.
