POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 25, 2013) – Following opening matches against Stevenson and No. 3 nationally ranked Juniata, the No. 12 nationally ranked Vassar College men's volleyball team will travel to No. 6 ranked Stevens Institute of Technology for the first United Volleyball Conference (UVC) match of the season.

2013 StatisticsVassar Men's Notes (1-1): The Brewers are ranked No. 12 in the national AVCA pre-season poll. Vassar is coming off a split of its matches at Juniata. The Brewers came back from six match points in the fourth set to defeat Stevenson 3-2 (25-23, 19-25, 18-25, 28-26, 15-10). In the second match against Juniata, Vassar lost a tough match in three sets (21-25, 25-27, 14-25).

Reno Kriz leads the Brewers in kills with 22, earning 15 in his debut match against Stevenson. Senior

Christian La Du continues his assault on the all-time digs record, earning 18 last weekend.
"It's our first conference match, so it's a big one," said head coach Rob Wolter. "Stevens was selected to win the UVC, so it's an important match to try and set the tone for conference play right off the bat."
Next Up: The Brewers will travel to Buffalo for UVC Crossover I matches against Penn State-Behrend and Nazareth on Saturday, February 9 at 11:00 am and 5:00 pm. The Brewers face Hilbert on Sunday at 11:00 am. Those matches will all be played at Medaille College.

2013 StatisticsStevens Notes (1-2): The Ducks, selected to win the UVC in the pre-season poll, have started the season 1-2 with losses to University of Waterloo (3-0) and Harvard (3-0). Stevens defeated University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras 3-2.
Ryan Seifert leads the team in kills with 34. Jake Modestwo follows with 21 kills. Kevin Aeckerle has 61 set assists.
