Box Score

POTSDAM, NY (April 28, 2012) – Despite being down 3-1 early, the Vassar College women's lacrosse team staged an impressive comeback to take a 5-4 lead and had the game tied 5-5 at halftime, but host Clarkson scored seven of the first eight goals in the second half and held on for a 13-10 Liberty League victory on Saturday afternoon in the season final for both teams.

Trailing 12-6 with 15:55 to play in the game, the Brewers were able to draw within 13-9 after freshman Dara Davis scored her third goal of the game at the 7:13 mark. However, in a battle of ball possession, Vassar managed only two shots on goal from that point, the last being a goal from freshman Katherine Stegmann with 30 seconds to play, drawing the Brewers within 13-10.

Vassar concludes its season 5-10, 2-7 in the Liberty League. Clarkson ends its season 7-8, 3-6.

The Brewers held one lead in the game, 5-4 at the 6:57 mark following a goal from freshman Sophia Rosetti. After intermission, Clarkson scored three straight goals – two from Saryn Campbell – and seven of the first eight, to sway the game's outcome. A Davis goal off a free position shot at the 13:05 stemmed the tide at 12-7. While Vassar was able to outscore Clarkson 3-1 over the final 13 minutes, the Golden Knights' lead was hard to overcome.

For Vassar, Davis had three goals and assist. Stegmann had two goals. In total, seven Brewers had goals.

Senior Heather Kessleman made 10 saves in 38 minutes of action. Freshman Katharine Pula had three saves in the final 22 minutes of play.

In her last collegiate game, senior Elizabeth Feltch had six groundballs. Fellow senior Elise Heffernan had three groundballs.
Clarkson got a four goal game from Campbell and four from Katie VanDeValk, three of which came in the second half.
