Annandale-on-Hudson, NY – The Vassar College Women's Lacrosse team stopped an eight-game slide Wednesday evening with an impressive 16-1 Liberty League road win at Bard. 14 Brewers recorded a point in the game, led by five from
Karina Gyllenhaal (Beverley, MA), and First Year
Kate Connelly (Owings Mills, MD) forced five turnovers.
Vassar improves to 6-8 overall on the season and 1-8 in conference play with the Raptors sliding to 1-12 overall and 0-9 against Liberty League foes.
How It Happened
- Vassar opened a 2-0 lead in the first quarter with Tess Billings (Deerfield, IL) scoring what proved to be the game winning goal at the 7:16 mark of the opening stanza.
- The Brewers went on to erupt for nine goals in the second frame to carry a commanding 11-1 lead into the intermission.
- Vassar scored the first seven goals of the second period with Gyllenhaal assisting on three straight markers.
- After Bard got on the board with 3:35 left before the break, Ally Bettencourt (Peabody, MA) and Megan Sweeney (Orlando, FL) tallied in the final 3:08 of the half to close out the scoring in the opening 30 minutes.
