Vassar Women's Notes: On Friday night, junior guard Cydni Matsuoka became the tenth player in women's basketball history to score 1,000 points. Behind Matsuoka's 18 point performance, Vassar defeated Hunter 76-47. Matsuoka who was 7 of 12 from the field and 4 of 5 from 3-point distance, became the quickest player in women's basketball history to reach the 1,000 point milestone.

After a slow start, the Brewers pulled away from Hunter at the 14-minute mark after a Hannah Senftleber layup put Vassar ahead 11-6. Once Matsuoka caught fire midway through the first half, the Brewers built a workmanlike lead – the closest Hunter could come was 22-15 after a layup by Dimitra Thomopoulos with six minutes until halftime. Vassar built a 32-18 lead at intermission  and never relinquished its double digit lead in the second half. The Brewers outscored Hunter 44-29 in the final 20 minutes, building a sizable 55-31 lead with 8:54 to play.

With the comfortable lead, Vassar was able to play its entire bench, outscoring Hunter 21-4 and getting meaningful contribution from its youthful guard corp of sophomore Nyah Berg (10 points, 4-8 shooting from the field) and freshman Caitlin Drakeley (10 points, 5-9 shooting from the field).

Next Up: The Brewers will host Berkelley College (NY) on Saturday, December 8 at 5:00 p.m. The Brewers will then be off until playing in the Montclair State University Holiday Tournament against Widener on December 29 at 8:00 p.m.
