Vassar Women's Notes: The Brewers (2-0) opened the season with a pair of wins against The College of Brockport (79-61) and Nazareth College (69-62) at Onnie's Classic at Rochester.  Junior guard Cydni Matsuoka's dominant performance, with an average 24 points against Brockport and Nazareth and a sensational .594 (19-32) from the field earned her Liberty League Performer of the Week.  Matsuoka shot 6-10 (.600) from the 3-point distance and averaged 5.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game. Freshman guard Caitlin Drakeley also had an impressive intercollegiate debut against the College of Brockport with 17 points and a game-high 9 rebounds. She averages 13.5 points and 7 rebounds per game. Sophomore forward Colleen O'Connell had 12 points against Nazareth College and 7 rebounds.

Wesleyan University Notes: The Cardinals (2-0) began their 2012-13 season last week with victories over SUNY Purchase (67-35) and St. Joseph in overtime (66-61) to win the Tip-Off Tournament hosted by St. Joseph.  Sophomore Dreisen Health leads the team with an average 15.5 points per game, followed by senior Kendra Harris with 10.5 ppg.

Coaches: Vassar is coached by Candice Brown, who is in her 4th season. Brown has led the Brewers to back-to-back Liberty League Championships and appearances in the NCAA Division III Championships. She was the 2010-11 Liberty League Coach of the Year. Wesleyan is coached by Kate Mullen, who is in her 21st season.
